After delivering a winning selection before the international break, SlipsTips is back with a Bet Builder for Tottenham's Premier League clash with West Ham on Saturday afternoon.
Tottenham vs West Ham (Saturday, 12:30)
London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United kick off the latest round of Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime.
Spurs suffered a second-half collapse away at Brighton before the international break, throwing away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2.
As for West Ham, they eased the pressure on new manager Julen Lopetegui with a ship-steadying 4-1 thumping of Ipswich a fortnight ago.
Despite the pair's contrasting results last time out, Ange Postecoglou’s hosts are heavy 1/2 favourites this weekend.
With all the ingredients in place for an action-packed contest, I’ve constructed a three-legged Bet Builder ahead of Saturday’s all-London showdown.
Over 0 Goals for Tottenham
I’m kicking off the Bet Builder by backing Tottenham to score at least once on Saturday. Postecoglou’s high-octane hosts have hit the back of the net in six of the seven Premier League games this season, with their only blank coming against a rock-solid Arsenal rearguard. It’s also worth noting that Spurs have struck twice or more in each of their last six matches across all competitions.
That doesn’t bode well for a West Ham backline that have silenced their opponents just once in seven attempts in the top-flight this term to date. On top of this, the Hammers failed to keep the back door shut in all bar one of their 19 league games away from the London Stadium last term.
Tomas Soucek – Over 0.5 Fouls Committed
Look to Tomas Soucek to commit a minimum of one foul at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday. The West Ham midfielder has racked up a combined total of nine fouls across his seven Premier League appearances this season, two of which were as a substitute. Four of those free-kicks have been given away over his last three appearances, including two against Chelsea.
The towering Czech Republic international has also been a regular offender on the international stage of late, committing at least one foul in each of his last seven appearances for his country.
Given Spurs' high press and relentless style of attacking football under Postecoglou, Soucek should have a lot of defensive work to get through on Saturday, making him a strong contender to get on the wrong side of the referee at least once.
Rodrigo Bentancur – Over 0.5 Fouls Committed
Staying in the midfield battleground, I’ll round off the Bet Builder with Rodrigo Bentancur to commit one foul or more. The all-action Uruguayan is likely to be the deepest member of Tottenham’s midfield, meaning he will need to be wary of West Ham’s most potent attacking weapons.
What's more, Bentancur has never been one to shy away from the dirty work, evidenced by the fact that he has fallen foul of the referee in five of his six Premier League outings this season so far. He also committed a foul during a 19 minute cameo as a substitute during Spurs’ 3-0 win over Qarabag in the Europa League last month.
The tough-tackling Tottenham midfielder is likely to be assigned a shackling job on West Ham playmaker Lucas Paqueta, who was drawing a sizeable 2.29 fouls per-game in the Premier League last season.
