SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Scotland’s Nations League second leg playoff tie with Greece on Sunday evening.
Scotland vs Greece (Sunday, 17:00)
Vying for a place in Group A of the Nations League, Scotland and Greece go head-to-head in the second leg of their playoff tie at Hampden on Sunday evening.
Steve Clarke’s side put themselves in the driving seat to retain their top tier status by battling to a 1-0 win in Piraeus on Thursday night.
Our man Mark Walker has already covered this crunch second leg with a detailed match preview, whereas I’m going to propose a Bet Builder double.
Scott McTominay 1+ Shot on Target
Scott McTominay proved again on Thursday night that he is Scotland's man for the big occasion. The talismanic Tartan Army midfielder has now made the net bulge 12 times across his last 22 appearances for his country, with three of those goals arriving in this current edition of the Nations League.
McTominay’s impressive attacking displays and goal output can be attributed to him hitting the target on a regular basis in recent times. In fact, the Napoli ace has tested the opposition goalkeeper in six of Scotland's previous seven Nations League matches. What’s more, that seven-game sample includes each of Scotland’s last three matches in front of their own supporters.
The 28-year old hitting the target has also become something of a common occurrence at club level this season, with McTominay managing at least one on-target effort in nine of his last 11 appearances for Napoli in Serie A.
Scott McTominay To Be Fouled 1 or More Times
For the second leg of what is a player-based double, I’m sticking with the aforementioned McTominay, but this time I’ll side with him to be fouled at least once on Sunday evening. The all-action midfielder came in for some rough treatment from his Greek markers on Thursday night, earning his nation no fewer than three set pieces, one of which was the penalty kick that he subsequently went on to score.
McTominay was also upended on a frequent basis during the group stage of the competition, buying his side a minimum of one foul in five of their six Group A1 assignments. In fact, the Scotland star was fouled twice or more in three of those match-ups, two of which were at Hampden.
Christos Zafeiris will likely be assigned a shackling job on McTominay. The Greek midfielder made one misdemeanour during Thursday’s first leg, as well as two at home to England late last year.
