SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Rangers and Celtic’s Old Firm showdown on Sunday afternoon.
Rangers vs Celtic (Sunday, 12:00)
Rangers and Celtic will renew hostilities for the final time this season at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
Despite being a distant 17 points behind their arch-rivals, Rangers are aiming to topple Celtic for the third time in succession.
As for Celtic, they will make the short trip across town fresh off the back of clinching their 13th league title across the last 14 seasons.
Nicolas Raskin 1+ Shot
I’ll get the Bet Builder underway by backing Nicolas Raskin to attempt at least one shot on goal on Sunday afternoon. The all-action Rangers midfielder is averaging 1.26 shots per game in the Scottish Premiership this season, registering at least one effort on goal in 14 of his last 16 top flight appearances. In fact, Raskin has attempted multiple shots in each of his last four starts in the Scottish Premiership. What's more, one of those four starts was against Celtic at Parkhead, with one of Raskin’s two shots hitting the back of the net on that occasion.
Nicolas Raskin to Commit 1+ Foul
Sticking with the aforementioned Niclolas Raskin, I’m also going to back him to commit a minimum of one foul during this dust-up. The Belgian international has been a frequent offender for Rangers this season, averaging 1.74 fouls per 90 in the Scottish Premiership, making multiple misdemeanours the last time these two old foes crossed paths in mid-March.
It’s also worth noting that Raskin has racked up 11 yellow cards across all competitions this season, including each of the last two editions of the Old Firm derby, making him an obvious selection to give away at least one free-kick on Sunday.
Callum McGregor to Commit 1+ Foul
I’m staying in the midfield battleground for the final leg of the Bet Builder by including Callum McGregor to commit a minimum of one foul during this contest. Typically deployed as the deepest lying of Celtic’s midfield trio, McGregor looks like a prime candidate to overstep the mark at least once at Ibrox.
The Celtic skipper missed the most recent Old Firm derby due to injury, however he did get on the wrong side of the referee at least once in each of the other three all-Glasgow showdowns this season. Moreover, McGregor collected a yellow card when Celtic crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Ibrox at the turn of the year.
