CELTIC and Rangers don't play this weekend but all the talk has been about the prices for next Saturday's Old Firm game.
Odds were released earlier in the week with Celtic 4-5 with some firms including McBookie – but that didn't last long.
That price looked big to me and Hoops fans piled on. Within hours we were down to 8-11 and that's the best available from McBookie.
Rangers are 4-1 at bet365 which will interest their supporters while the draw pays 14-5 at Ladbrokes.
Mark Warburton's men beat their rivals in last season's Scottish Cup semi-final but Celtic look improved under Brendan Rodgers and should win unless they are too focused on Barcelona three days later.
Leigh Griffiths and Kieran Tierney, who missed Scotland's trip to Malta, should be fit and if Griffiths starts I'll consider Celtic minus one at 15-8 with Coral. Rangers -1 is 11-1 at Ladbrokes.
Turning to today and it's the second round of the IRN-BRU Cup so a day to take it easy.
I said Celtic weren't playing but there are Under-20s are the only side left in the new-look tournament. They've knocked out Annan and Cowdenbeath but face a step up at Livingston.
Celtic are 17-10 to win tonight's live TV game but best could be both to score at 1-2 with bet365 for the third tie running.
Championship sides Dundee United at home to Peterhead, Falkirk at home to Elgin and QoS at home to Stenny are all extremely short so to back them you probably have to look at the handicaps. A minus one treble pays 41-10 at Coral.
Alloa beat East Fife 2-1 at home two weeks and are 3-5 at McBookie to make it 10 out of 10 wins this season.
Hibs are in action at Turriff tomorrow and Neil Lennon is fielding a strong side it's a question of how many. To win by three or more the Championship leaders are 7-5 at boylesports.
In England there are League One, League Two and National League games to look at.
Bolton have made an unbeaten start to League One and should see off Southend at 3-4 with Skybet.
Fleetwood have been surprisingly strong and can take care of Coventry while Oxford see off Rochdale.
League Two's unheralded leaders are Morceambe who I fancy them at a massive 15-4 with Coral to beat Orient who have lost three of their last five. Also look at Morecambe draw no bet at 11-8 with Ladbrokes and William Hill.
Flying Forest Green at Chester and Braintree at pointless Guisley are the sides to back in the National League.
Bets to Consider
Celtic -1
Hibs -2
Morecambe draw no bet
Totally agree Mr F that Celtic should be to strong for Rangers at home. Saying that I personally wouldn’t trust a Brendan Rodgers side. (we had him at LFC and in my opinion he is inept). Also think that if Barton and Brown are fit and available there could be a war in the middle of the park. Depending on who the ref is , this game could rack up the cards with a sending off or 2 a possibility.
Bit harsh on Rodgers – he was a Steven Gerrard slip from lifting the title after all.
No other Liverpool manager has got close in recent seasons.
He’s done OK at Celtic but it’s early days.
Cards are a cert next week but odds will reflect it. I anticipate at least 1 red as well.
Mr f, there should be only two players starting for Hibs that started last week against Morton
New signing goalkeeper Marciano & Fyvie
Other players that look like being given a chance to start are forwards Martin Boyle and Brian Graham.
The rest of the squad will be made up of young players to give them first team experience,
Nowhere near a full strength squad but saying that, we should still have enough quality to score 4 or 5
It’s I game I don’t want us to win as I just see this tournament as pointless and a distraction
It’s not what Lennon said yesterday but I won’t bet until I see team news firmed up.
Certainly is a pointless tournament but no way does Lennon want to lose to Turriff.
Got Celtic -1 at 9/5 wi Coral during the week as i think it’ll be of around 5/4 at KO, maybe evens
Still 15-8 – probably won’t change too much as Rangers fans will back their side, especially after winning 7-0 today.
