THE Premier League title race is getting tense but Arsenal have the chance to open up a four-point lead for a few hours at least when they host AFC Bournemouth at lunchtime.

Champions Manchester City are still favourites to pip the Gunners as they have a game in hand, but they're not in action until 5.30pm on Saturday, and that gives their rivals an opportunity to put some pressure on.

Mikel Arteta's men have been so strong at home all season, but nerves can get to teams so close to the finishing line. Arsenal almost threw away a 3-0 lead at Tottenham last time out, and Bournemouth can play with the pressure off from the safety of mid-table.

Arsenal vs AFC Bournemouth

The Gunners romped to a 4-0 win away to AFC Bournemouth earlier in the season, and the bookies are expecting another comfortable win, with Arsenal -1 in the handicap paying just 4/7 with most firms.

But the Cherries are in better form now so I've a feeling they could ask a few questions of Arteta's side. Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals pays 11/10 (BoyleSports), while over 3.5 Bournemouth shots on target pays 8/5 (888Sport).

For a long-odds option, Arsenal have been so threatening from corners, and Brazilian stopper Gabriel is 6/1 at Paddy Power to score a header.

Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester City weren't at their best last time out against Nottingham Forest, but the City Ground pitch played a big part in that, and they should be slicker back at the Etihad.

Wolves beat the champions at Molineux earlier in the season but are now in dreadful form with injuries hitting hard. So it's hard to see anything but a comfortable City victory in this one.

Kevin De Bruyne has stepped up during the run-in for Pep Guardiola's side, and the Belgian master looks good at 5/4 (SkyBet) for an assist.

Ipswich Town vs Huddersfield Town

It's the final day of the Championship season and Ipswich Town need just a point at home to doomed Huddersfield to seal back-to-back promotions.

But playing for a draw isn't Kieran McKenna's style, so I'd imagine the Tractor Boys will want to secure their Premier League return in style. Ispwich are just 1/4 (Coral) for a win but over 2.5 Town goals is better at evens (Paddy Power).

Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson has been providing the creative spark and he's 10/3 at Bet365 for an assist while the same firm price him at 13/8 for a goal.

Oxford United vs Peterborough United

Oxford United head into the League One play-off semi-final in good form, having lost just one of their last eight games. That run included a 5-0 home thrashing of Peterborough United so fans will be hoping for more of the same today.

Peterborough ended the regular season with a 3-3 thriller against Bolton, so it bodes well for a few goals today, even though play-off games can sometimes be nervy affairs.

Oxford look decent value for a first-leg win at 13/10 at Coral while backing most goals to come after the break pays evens with the same firm.

Celtic vs Heart of Midlothian

With Rangers not in action until tomorrow, Celtic have the chance to pile on the pressure in the SPFL Premiership title race by moving six points clear with a win over Heart of Midlothian.

The Jambos have been a bogey team for the Hoops this season and have won 2-0 in the last two meetings. But the bookies can't see them making it a hat-trick with Hearts as big as 12/1 (Paddy Power).

Celtic haven't been keeping a lot of clean sheets so combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals could pay off at 11/10 (Coral). This can be a fiery fixture and we had a red card and two penalties in the last meeting. I fancy Jambos firebrand Cammy Devlin for a card today at 13/8 (Bet365).

Saturday's Football Tips: Super Singles

  • Kevin De Bruyne assist 5/4 SkyBet
  • Over 2.5 Ipswich goals Evens Paddy Power
  • Cammy Devlin to be carded 13/8 Bet365

Long shot

  • Gabriel to score a header 6/1 Paddy Power

It’s getting more and more difficult to come up with anything , looking around at prices for goals again today and the prices are just so short , might just be small longshot acca’s going forward for me ,

Yeh just looking away half the time now Deano. Must be a few bookies taking a lot of extra holidays

    • noob gambler 3 months ago

Completely agree. Used to find quite a lot of value in singles for goals. Now have to search very hard or try a double/treble

    • ChrisBax 3 months ago

Need to start looking for different angles the bookies often overlook e.g. Macca’s excellent advice about own goals, fouls markets (esp with PaddyPower & supersub feature), penalties (usually Hills are best price-wise)

The alternative is to go for the unders markets – e.g Chelsea v Spurs over 2.5 goals was just 1.33, yet match ended 2:0. If you’d backed the unders market, you would have got odds of 3.4 for < 2.5 goals.

Also, many matches (esp premier league) have a favorite at around 1.3 to 1.5 with the other team priced at 7.0 ish. You'd be amazed how many of these matches end in a draw, which usually pays around 4.0 to 4.5.

      2
    • MrBigChug 3 months ago

Those other bets are speculative goals are a very. And you are right you can go against the market which I have pointed out a few times recently but you can’t make fun accas out of them on unders because you will always get clipped. Fact remains the value everywhere and on all markets is getting less and less across the board.

      4
    • maccathered 3 months ago

The premier league is at a all time high for goals so you can understand the bookies tightening up on that league. If your not happy with the price on over 2.5 goals then I suggest taking over 3 alternative goal line that way if there’s only 3 goals then you get your stake back. Own goals were 10/1 across the board in the prem and the bookies have slashed the odds to around 11/2 that nearly half the price of what they were.

    • MrBigChug 3 months ago

Yeh exactly macca being cut everywhere your own goals gone down nearly by half that’s mad. Agreed prem goals been over 0.8 Pg higher than usual but the odds have gone down massively disproportionately as a percentage to the goals extra scored by quite a bit. I just leave the silly ones now 2/7 etc (which is quite a lot)
