Most of the action in Ligue 1 is scheduled for Sunday, but on Saturday we’ll be treated to three matches featuring the teams that finished in the top three last season.
PSG, Lille and Lens all had Champions League matches during the week, but only the Parisians came out victorious. How will these results affect the three teams’ performances in the domestic league?

Today’s Ligue 1 betting tips & predictions
Strasbourg vs. PSG (4:15pm)
Strasbourg have been an extremely interesting case since the start of the campaign, with consistency seemingly a foreign concept to them. A poor result is followed by impressive victories, and immediately afterwards by even more shocking defeats.
PSG have finally hit form, as officially confirmed by their magnificent 4–2 away win at Manchester City this week. The only area they need to improve is their defence, as they have conceded goals in eight of their nine matches since the start of the season.
Given Strasbourg’s strong attacking play, we can expect them to score, but their poor defensive form should be enough for PSG to win the match. Nine of the last 10 head-to-head matches have featured goals at both ends and over 2.5 goals.
Strasbourg vs. PSG top betting tip: BTTS & Over 2.5 goals
Lille vs. Brest (7:45pm)
Lille played their worst half of the season after the break against Arsenal, which led to the final 3–0 scoreline. Once again, they struggled away from home, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re brilliant at home.
Brest have one away win so far, but we can’t exactly say they’ve impressed. It is true that they are scoring quite a few goals, which is a positive and a step up from last season.
That’s why, in my opinion, we can expect goals in this match too. Lille’s defence is stronger, but they do make mistakes, and after a tough match midweek, those mistakes could well be more frequent.
Lille vs. Brest top betting tip: Over 2.5 goals
Troyes vs. Lens (7:45pm)
Lens continue to lack consistency and have yet to record two consecutive wins this season, if we exclude the Super Cup match, which they won before the official new season began.
This fixture is a chance for them to record back-to-back wins, at least in Ligue 1, given Troyes’ appalling form with four consecutive defeats. The newly promoted side has struggled badly to cope with the standard of the top flight, having conceded two or more goals in each of those defeats.
Lens must capitalise on this as they are already falling behind the leading pack in the top four race. In my view, 17/20 for a win is worth a punt.
