WEST HAM UNITED will be looking to get back on track in the Premier when they entertain Everton at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
David Moyes' men have made a pretty strong start to the season but they suffered a bruising setback when losing 4-1 to Aston Villa last weekend, in a game that brought up one of my bets.
The Hammers have since fallen to a first European defeat since May 2022 when slumping to a 2-1 loss at Olympiacos on Thursday evening.
Back at their east London base this weekend, manager David Moyes will demand a response from his team when his former club Everton come calling.
After earning a morale-boosting 3-0 win over fellow strugglers Bournemouth before the international break, the Toffees were brought back down to earth with a bump when losing 2-0 to arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.
That body blow has left Sean Dyches's side perched just three points above the basement zone ahead of this weekend's trip to the capital.
Outright Betting
West Ham came out on top in last season's corresponding fixture and the hosts are 23/20 (Bet 365) favourites to repeat the trick on Sunday.
Everton have triumphed just twice away from home in the top-flight in 2023 and the bookies' odds suggest the Toffees will come unstuck here, with an away win trading at 12/5 (PaddyPower) while a share of the London Stadium spoils can backed at 27/10 (William Hill).
Betting Angles
West Ham are worthy favourites here but I'm going to opt for an alternative of angle of attack by making use of the Bet Builder feature and throwing together Edson Álvarez to commit a foul, Vitaliy Mykolenko to commit a foul and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to have shot at 20/23 (Bet 365).
Hammers hatchet-man Edson Álvarez has added a bit of muscle in the centre of the pitch for David Moyes' men and he is certain to resume his role of destroyer against the Toffees after being used as a substitute in Greece on Thursday night.
The Mexican midfielder has averaged almost two fouls per-game across his first eight Premier League outings and he should be in the thick of the physical battle here, and is therefore backed to commit a minimum of one foul.
Another player I fancy to tackle his way into trouble is Everton's Vitaliy Mykolenko who is averaging 1.2 fouls per 90 in the top-flight this term.
The Toffees left-back will be tasked with keeping West Ham's Jarrod Bowen quiet, with the Hammers talisman drawing 1.2 fouls per-game in the Premier League.
At the other end of the park, I'll round off the Bet Builder with Dominic Calvert-Lewin to have at least one shot during this east London encounter.
Everton's upturn in performances of late has coincided with Calvert-Lewin returning to the side and he should attempt at least one shot against a West Ham side that rarely silences their opponents.
On a similar line of reasoning to the above, I'll also go with the aforementioned Edson Álvarez to pick up a card at 11/4 with PaddyPower.
The tough-tackling midfielder has already clocked up four cards in eight Premier League appearances this season and he looks a likely candidate to enter referee Stuart Attwell's notebook on Sunday,
