Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United
English Premier League, KO: 17:30 Oct 30, 2021, Tottenham Hotspur StadiumIT'S doom watch on Saturday night as two of the great underachievers this season meet when Spurs entertain Manchester United.
While all eyes have been on the future of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who has reportedly got three games to save his job, his counterpart in the home dugout, Nuno Espirito Santo, is also under serious pressure.
Spurs have lost their last two games – a dismal Europa Conference League defeat in the Netherlands against Vitesse Arnhem followed by a London derby defeat at West Ham.
However, that's put into insignificance by United's horrific 5-0 home thrashing by hated rivals Liverpool, which could and should have been much, much worse. United have collected just one point from their last four league games and the knives are well and truly out for the Norwegian boss, which is hardly surprising.
Sir Alex Ferguson was even prompted to pay a visit to the training ground this week, but it's doubtful that even his hairdryer treatment would make a difference to this United squad.
How the bookies view it
Given that Spurs are a point ahead of the Old Trafford side and have home advantage, it's perhaps surprising that United are favourites here. They are 17/12 favourites with SBK, with Tottenham 2/1 outsiders with the same company. The draw is 2/1 with SportNation.
Recent head to heads
There were two away wins last season. Spurs crushed United in an astonishing 6-1 success at Old Trafford, but Solksjaer's side gained some revenge with a 3-1 victory in London. The capital clash can be seen below. United are unbeaten on their last three visits to Spurs.
Players to watch
Harry Kane has scored ten goals in 16 games this season for club and country and yet is conceived to have had something of a disappointing campaign so far. But he'll surely relish the freedom that an off-form United defence will offer him and he's 29/20 with Unibet which looks tempting.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal disallowed in last week's disaster against Liverpool, but he's still clearly United's main threat and is 13/10 with BetVictor to score in the capital.
Anything else catch the eye?
It's hard to see why United should be favourites. They are playing with zero confidence and they couldn't keep hens out of a midden at the moment.
Spurs aren't much better, but they have won three out of their four home games this season and beaten Manchester City at home too.
The hosts are 11/8 to score at least twice with Unibet and that could easily trap.
But the value could be on a home win and both teams to score, with United surely set to have a go after the week they've had at 9/2 with William Hill
