Sporting CP have a mountain to climb if they want to advance to the next round of the Champions League, but we’ve already seen that a team can come back from a three-goal deficit, even if we haven’t seen it happen against Bodo/Glimt specifically.
Last week’s loss was Sporting’s first since early January. While we expected Bodo not to lose, we certainly didn’t foresee such a resounding victory, especially a shutout.
Still, it’s not out of the question that Sporting could pull off the unthinkable—after all, the team has 14 wins in its last 15 home games across all competitions, including a victory over reigning champions PSG.
But everyone thought the same thing in the previous round, when Bodo visited Inter Milan. If you missed the action, the Norwegians also won at San Siro, and since January, they’ve also beaten Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.
In the first match, Sporting showed almost nothing, finishing the game with just 0.61 xG, while Bodo/Glimt had 2.78 xG and, accordingly, scored three goals.
How the bookies view it: The Lions to continue dominating at home
Once again, it seems as though the bookmakers may be slightly underestimating the visitors, offering very high odds on a win for them.
Consequently, Sporting are currently listed at around 3/5, while Bodo/Glimt are priced at 7/2. If you’re expecting a draw, you can take advantage of the 4/1 odds.
Recent head-to-head: A sensational 3-0 win in Norway
Last week we saw the first-ever match between these two teams, given that this is Bodo’s debut campaign in the Champions League.
Historically, both teams have played against other representatives of their respective opponents’ countries, with Sporting having won all three of their home matches against Norwegian teams, while Bodo have three wins in three matches overall against Portuguese teams.
Players to watch: Blomberg carries Bodo in the UCL
Last week, our prediction about Jens Haug was spot on, as he provided one of the assists against Sporting.
This time, we’re focusing on Ole Blomberg, who has been involved in five goals across his five Champions League matches in 2026. He scored against Sporting and has four assists to his name.
For the home side, we expect Luis Suarez to find the net at least once, given that he has scored at least once in each of his last five domestic appearances. The 28-year-old has already scored 31 goals and recorded four assists in 39 matches this season.

Probable line-ups
Sporting CP: Silva, Fresneda, Inacio, Diomande, Vagiannidis, Guilherme, Trincao, Catamo, Simoes, Hjulmand, Suarez
Bodo/Glimt: Haikin, Sjoevold, Bjoertuft, Gundersen, Bjoerkan, Fet, Berg, Evjen, Blomberg, Hoegh, Hauge
Anything else catch the eye?
Sporting have nothing to lose and will play an all-out attacking game, which means they’ll be vulnerable to counterattacks. Bodo/Glimt have proven time and again that counterattacking is second nature to them—just think back to some of their goals against Inter Milan.
The Norwegian team has scored at least once in every away game in the Champions League this season. Even if they lose, which is quite likely, we expect them to progress.
