RB Leipzig vs Zenit St PetersburgUEFA Champions League, KO: 17:55 Oct 23, 2019, Red Bull Arena
RB Leipzig surrendered top spot in Group G to Zenit St Petersburg on matchday two and will be desperate to make amends when the Russians come calling.
Before a ball was kicked in the section, I predicted this would be one of the tightest Champions League groups and that has been borne out in the first two matches.
Zenit and Lyon are level on points, with Leipzig just a point behind them, and while Benfica have yet to get off the mark they have the quality to get back into the mix.
These sides have met just once before in Europe, with the Germans coming out on top in the Europa League two years ago, winning 3-2 on aggregate.
It was 2-1 to RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena and the bookies fancy them to edge this one too, mainly because Zenit St Petersburg are notoriously poor on their travels.
The Russians haven't won in their last 10 European away days, losing seven of them, so that's why RB Leipzig are a best 3/5 with Marathonbet.
But their home form has been terrible of late, both in the Bundesliga and the European arena. They have only come out on top in one of their last four Euro home games after crashing 2-0 to Lyon last time out.
They also haven't tasted success at home in the league since beating Frankfurt 2-1 back in late August, the latest disappointment a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg at the weekend.
With Zenit St Petersburg so poor on the road and RB Leipzig out of sorts in their own back yard, I'm more inclined to go for the draw, which is 71/20 with Marathonbet. You can stretch those odds to 6/1 with Ladbrokes by doubling it with a goal to be scored in each half, which looks a good option.
Sergei Semak's troops warmed up for the trip to Germany by crushing Rostov 6-1, with Artem Dzyuba helping himself to a hat-trick.
Timo Werner netted for RB Leipzig when they beat Zenit two years ago and will be the home side's best hope for a goal again. However, he doesn't offer great value at a best evens with BetVictor for anytime scorer.
With VAR continuing to dominate the headlines, it's always worthwhile having a flutter on a penalty being awarded, which is 21/10 with Boylesports here.
