RB Leipzig will take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Saturday, 9 November in a match that feels significant for the hosts after a terrible week.
Last weekend, Leipzig suffered a disappointing loss to Borussia Dortmund in the league which has seen them go three points behind Bayern Munich in the title race. They followed that up with a 3-1 loss to Celtic in the Champions League.
Borussia Monchengladbach, meanwhile, are sitting in midtable after a decent start to the season. They will need to go on a run at some point, though, if they are to challenge for the European places.
How the bookies view it: The hosts start as favourites
RB Leipzig will be glad they are back on home turf this weekend after two disappointing away results and the bookies expect them to get the job done. Betfred have priced a win for RB Leipzig at 8/15 while a victory for Borussia Monchengladbach has been priced at 9/2. The draw, which would a good result for the visitors, has been priced at 18/5.
Recent head-to-head: Leipzig looking to extend their streak
RB Leipzig will be encourage by their recent form against Borussia Monchengladbach as they are currently in the midst of a three-match winning streak over them. However, it's not all doom and gloom for the visitors, as prior to those three matches they won back-to-back fixtures against Leipzig, although both of those were played in Monchengladbach.
Players to watch: Time for Sesko to get going
Benjamin Sesko is hotly tipped as one of the best strikers in world football but he has been far from his best so far this season. The Slovenian, who was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, has only managed to score three league goals so far this season and that will need to change if Leipzig are serious about challenging for the title.
Fortunately for Sesko, he has been bailed out by the form of Lois Openda who has scored six goals across all competitions but the Belgian's goals have also dried up in recent weeks. As a result, it's time for Sesko to start showing why some of Europe's biggest clubs are keeping an eye on him.
Despite Leipzig having Openda and Sesko in their ranks, they have both been outscored this season by Borussia Monchengladbach's Tim Kleindienst. The experienced frontman has scored six goals and provided four assists in the Bundesliga and he will be the man RB Leipzig are most concerned about on Saturday.
Predicted line-ups
RB Leipzig will be without Xavi Simons for this one with the talented winger out until January with an ankle issue. Castello Lukeba, David Raum and Xaver Schlager also miss out for the hosts. Borussia Monchengladbach are missing five players including Alassane Plea and Luca Netz.
RB Leipzig: Gulacsi – Geertruida, Orban, Bitshiabu, Henrichs – Baumgartner, Kampl, Haidara, Nusa – Sesko, Openda
Borussia Monchengladbach: Nicolas – Scally, Friedrich, Iakura, Ullrich – Weigl, Reitz – Honorat, Stoger, Hack – Kleindienst
Anything else catch the eye?
Both teams have scored in RB Leipzig's last four matches in all competitions while the same can be said for Borussia Monchengladbach's last five. Both teams to score on Saturday evening has been price at 1/2 by Betfred.
