RANGERS will be aiming to make it two wins from two in the Scottish Premiership when they take on Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side started their quest to reclaim the title with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Livingston last weekend, on an afternoon where one of my Tony Macaroni tips landed.
That said, van Bronckhorst and Co face a fight to keep their Champions League campaign alive following a 2-0 defeat at Union Saint-Gilloise in midweek.
As such, the Dutchman will demand an immediate response when his team take to the field this weekend for a Scottish Premiership match against newly-promoted Kilmarnock.
Killie kicked-off their return to the top-flight with an incident-packed 1-1 draw at home to Dundee United last Saturday.
Derek McInnes' men showed great spirit to salvage a draw against the Terrors but a trip to Ibrox will provide the Ayrshire outfit with a stern test of their top-tier credentials.
Outright Betting
Rangers, who have lost just one of their last 17 Scottish Premiership matches, head into their first competitive home game of the season as short-priced 1/4 (Ladbrokes) favourites.
Kilmarnock claimed maximum points in just one of their final seven Scottish Championship road trips last term and the bookies' expect those away day blues to continue here with a Killie win trading at 14/1 (PaddyPower) while the draw is unfancied 11/2 (Betfred).
Betting Angles
As already mentioned, my recommended Bet Builder landed at Livingston last weekend and I'm going to support a similar formula at Ibrox on Saturday by merging Rangers to win, under five match goals and over four Rangers corners at 20/23 (Bet 365).
With Rangers likely to dictate the tempo of the game, and Kilmarnock looking to sit deep and soak up pressure, the Light Blues may find it difficult to break down their opponents.
What's more, Killie have proven to be a tough nut to crack since Derek McInnes took the reins in Ayrshire, avoiding defeat in 20 of their 23 matches under the former Aberdeen boss' tutorship.
It's also worth pointing out that each of Kilmarnock's 18 league outings across that sequence have featured less than five goals, so it could take a little time for Rangers to explode into action.
With this in mind, coupled with the fact that a lofty 17 of Rangers' 19 league wins under van Bronckhorst's guidance have gone under the 4.5 goal barrier, I suspect the hosts will notch a comfortable if unspectacular win against their opponents.
Considering Rangers will almost certainly dominate possession, as well as the fact they averaged over 7.5 corners per-game in the Scottish Premiership last season, I'll round off the Bet Builder with a minimum of five Gers corners.
I fancied Rangers to win, Rangers to take the most corners and Livingston to receive the most cards last weekend and I make no apology for backing the same bet on Saturday at 21/20 (UniBet).
Rangers have lost just once at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership since March 2020 , not to mention the above-mentioned combination clicked in each of their final three league wins on home turf last term.
