PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN and Newcastle United meet in a huge Champions League showdown at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.
Group F is very finely poised with just three points separating all four teams going into the last two rounds of fixtures.
Hosts PSG are currently occupying second place in the section, having surrendered top spot following a 2-1 defeat at AC Milan.
However, Luis Enrique’s side have started to hit top gear domestically, most recently making light work of Monaco in 5-2 cruise to victory on Friday night.
As for Newcastle, they have tumbled to the bottom of the pool following a pair of damaging back-to-back defeats against Borussia Dortmund.
The Magpies are by no means down and out though, and they will certainly be in confident mood after crushing Chelsea 4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Outright Betting
Paris Saint-Germain are odds-on 8/13 (Bet 365) favourites as they look to keep their perfect home record in this season’s Champions League.
Despite their 4-1 demolition of PSG at St James’ Park, Newcastle are 4/1 (PaddyPower) underdogs while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 16/5 (William Hill).
Betting Angles
PSG are fair favourites here but to get the hosts onside at more backable price I’ll go to the Bet Builder and couple of a home win and Under 4.5 Goals at 21/20 with Ladbrokes.
While the Parisians are capable of blowing teams away with room to spare, they may not have things all their own way against what is a well-oiled Magpies machine.
Newcastle have long been a tough nut to crack under Eddie’s Howe’s tutorship and they are certainly capable of holding their own here, as was the case in October's reverse fixture.
Having said all of that, the Toon Army came up short in both of their aforementioned defeats at Dortmund, and it would be fair to say that a trip to the Parc des Princes will represent an upgrade on those challenges.
What's more, both of those losses to the Bundesliga giants featured Under 4.5 goals, and I suspect another narrow defeat could be in store this midweek.
This particular bet would have also paid out in PSG’s previous two Group F home games this season and that only adds to the appeal of supporting the same formula in the French capital on Tuesday night.
It goes without saying that Kylian Mbappe will pose the biggest threat to the Magpies backline on Tuesday night and I’m prepared to back the French superstar to strike here at 10/11 with Bet 365.
