Paris Saint-Germain and Brest will play out the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
Luis Enrique’s side are in pole position to progress to the last 16 after cruising to a 3-0 win last Tuesday evening, in a game where I delivered a 10/1 winner.
As such, It would take a collapse of epic proportions for PSG not to finish the job when the pair reconvene in the French capital this midweek.
The Parisians warmed up for this clash by claiming a narrow 1-0 win away at Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Brest’s preparations for this week’s return match were far from ideal, drawing 2-2 with Auxerre on Friday night.
Trailing PSG by 3-0 from the first leg, damage limitation could be the name of the game for Eric Roy’s side on Wednesday night.
How the bookies view it: PSG on easy street
After romping to a 3-0 success last week, PSG are understandable short-priced 2/11 favourites on Boylesports to take top honours from this week’s second leg.
Brest arrive at the Parc des Princes knowing a place in the next round is all-but out of reach, and that is reflected in the bookmakers’ odds, with an away win trading at 12/1 (Boylesports) while the draw is an unfancied 6/1 with the same firm.
Head to head: PSG seeking fab four
Wednesday night’s fixture will represent the fourth meeting between the pair this season across all competitions, with PSG triumphing in each of the previous three tussles this term.
Players to watch: Dembele to deliver again?
Ousmane Dembele was the star of the show during last week’s first leg, scoring two of PSG’s three goals. With the in-form Frenchman too short to side with here for an anytime strike, instead bundle up a Dembele goal and a PSG win at 4/5 on Boylesports.
Brest will look to Ludovic Ajorque for inspiration on Wednesday night. The 30-year-old forward has scored in each of his last six outings in Ligue 1, one of which was against PSG.
Predicted line-ups
After rotating his resources on Saturday night, PSG boss Enrique is expected to revert back to his strongest starting XI on Wednesday night, though he will be without injured duo Ibrahim Mbaye and Warren Zaire-Emery.
Brest boss Roy could be without as many as five players for this week’s trip to the Parc des Princes, with Ibrahim Salah the latest player to check into the Stade Francis-Le Ble treatment room.
PSG: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Ruiz, Neves, Vitinha; Doue, Dembele, Barcola
Brest: Bizot; Lala, Chardonnet, Le Cardinale, Zogbe; Camara, Magnetti, Faivre; Del Castillo, Ajorque, Sima
Anything else catch the eye?
After backing the aforementioned Dembele to score both a brace and hat-trick last week, I’m happy to side with a repeat here at 10/3 and 14/1 respectively on Boylesports.
The Frenchman scored two goals last week, not to mention he hit a trio of strikes away at Stuttgart on the final night of league phase action.
It’s also worth noting that Dembele scored a hat-trick against Brest in Ligue 1 towards the end of last month.
