Two clubs who look set to be in a relegation battle in the Premier League this season meet at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon as 19th-placed Nottingham Forest hosts 16th-placed Leeds United.
Sean Dyche claimed his first point in the Premier League in charge of Nottingham Forest last weekend, as they drew 2-2 at home to Manchester United on an afternoon I successfully backed the visitors to strike at least twice.
The Tricky Trees turned the game around by scoring two quick-fire goals at the beginning of the second half, but a late Amad volley meant they had to settle for a point, leaving them four points adrift of safety.
Forest were also in action in the Europa League on Thursday night, as they drew 0-0 away at reigning Austrian champions Sturm Graz to leave them in 23rd position in the league phase table.
Leeds suffered their fourth defeat away from home in the Premier League at Brighton last weekend, as they were beaten 3-0 by the Seagulls.
That’s now just one victory in five in the Premier League for Daniel Farke’s men, leaving them in 16th position in the table, only four points clear of the relegation zone.
How the bookies view it: Forest favourites
Nottingham Forest have been installed as favourites for this crucial clash, with BOYLE Sports pricing a home success at 23/20.
The same firm has Leeds at 11/5 to claim their second away victory of the campaign, whilst the draw is 23/10.
Head to head: 3 on the Spin at home for Forest
Leeds were victorious in the last meeting between the sides in April 2023, as they won 2-1 at Elland Road.
However, Forest have won the last three meetings between the pair at the City Ground.
Players to watch: Forest to look to Jesus?
Igor Jesus has made a decent impact since joining Forest from Botafogo, scoring on five occasions, including a penalty in their 2-0 victory over Porto.
However, the Brazilian has yet to score in the Premier League, and he is 15/8 at BOYLE Sports to break his duck.
Predicted line-ups:
Sean Dyche will be unable to call upon Angus Gunn, Ola Aina, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Dilane Bakwa, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood, who are all missing due to injury.
Daniel Farke will need to wait on the availability of Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is a doubt.
Nottingham Forest: Sels, Savona, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams, Luiz, Anderson, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi, Jesus
Leeds United: Perri, Bogle, Rodon, Bijol, Gudmundsson, Longstaff, Ampadu, Ito, Aaronson, Okafor, Nmecha
Anything else catch the eye?
After a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth in his dugout debut for Forest, Sean Dyche has guided Forest to a win at home to Porto and a draw away at Sturm Graz in the Europa League, and a 2-2 draw with in-form Manchester United in the Premier League.
Leeds, on the other hand, have lost four of their opening five road trips on their return to the Premier League, failing to score in each of those losses – meaning I’m happy to give Forest the edge.
As alluded to, The Tricky Trees have won each of their last three meetings with Leeds at the City Ground, and I’m hoping that trend continues on Sunday afternoon.
Both Teams to Score has failed to land in six of Forest’s last eight Premier League encounters – and given the same has failed to land in 4/5 (80%) of Leeds’s away fixtures – the 10/11 at BOYLE Sports for a repeat also appeals.
