MANCHESTER CITY will endeavour to make it six Premier League wins on the spin when they entertain Everton at the Etihad on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side appear to have set the wheels in motion for their annual title charge, most recently winning 3-1 at Brentford on Monday night.
That victory coupled with results elsewhere means that City are now just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, having played a game less.
As such, the Citizens could surge to the summit of the standings – at least temporarily – with a win against Everton this weekend.
Sean Dyche’s side put in a spirited display to earn a 2-2 with Tottenham last Saturday, on an afternoon where both of by bets banked profit at Goodison Park.
Despite picking up that draw last time out, the Toffees still remain in the relegation zone, though they are just one point away from safety at things stand.
Outright Betting
As expected, Man City are heavy 2/11 favourites at Bet365 to make it ten wins on the trot across all competitions.
Everton have drawn their last three Premier League games but the same outcome on Saturday is as big as 7/1 (Bet 365) while a Toffees triumph is trading at a towering 14/1 (PaddyPower).
Betting Angles
With Man City unbackable at the aforementioned price, I’ll get creative via the Bet Builder market and merge a home win, Under Five Goals and Rodri to make over 0.5 tackles at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Man City’s form in recent weeks is an ominous sign for the rest of the Premier League and they should keep the Sky Blue juggernaut rolling by earning another three points against Everton.
Whilst City are capable of blowing teams away with room to spare, 12 of their 15 Premier League victories this season have featured four match goals or fewer and that trend could continue against Toffees side that will look to stifle their hosts with a safety-first approach.
What’s more, each of Everton’s 10 top-flight defeats this season have gone under the 4.5 goal barrier, one of which was against Man City in the reverse fixture back in December.
With that in mind, coupled with the likelihood of City having one eye on their Champions League assignment in Copenhagen on Tuesday night, I'm more than happy to merge a Man City win and under five goals.
To bolster the odds up to 4/5 (Bet 365), I’ll also back Man City midfielder Rodri to make a minimum of one tackle during this Etihad encounter.
The Spanish stalwart is averaging 2.2 tackles per 90 in the Premier League this season, delivering at least one in 16 of his 18 top-flight appearances this term to date.
After banging in a hat-trick at Brentford on Monday night, I’m also keen to get involved with Phil Foden in the To Score or Assist market at a tasty 10/11 on PaddyPower.
This bet would have paid out in five of Foden’s last six Premier League appearances – one of which was against Everton – so siding with the same wager this weekend stands out at a shade under evens.
