MANCHESTER CITY are starting to look ominous now after seven wins in a row in all competitions and they will be strongly expected to make it eight when they entertain Burnley at home on Wednesday.
The champions are five points behind Liverpool going into the midweek fixtures with a game in hand, but look like they have got their mojo back after a serious blip last month where they went an unprecedented four Premier League games without a win.
Okay, that seven-game winning run includes the Club World Cup which was a penalty kick for them really and a FA Cup success at Spurs.
But crucially, there's even a chance Erling Haaland could return after a ten-game absence which obviously would be massive for City, with the Norwegian goal machine awaiting the green light to play some part.
It's a return to the Etihad for City legend Vincent Kompany and his Burnley side are embroiled in a huge battle against the drop and are currently five points clear from safety.
They've won one game out of their last eight in all competitions and conceding a controversial injury time leveller to relegation foes Luton Town would have been a real downer.
How the bookies view it
At a best price of 1/9 with 10bet you won't get rich backing Manchester City, but it's hardly unexpected odds.
Burnley can be backed at 28/1 with UniBet and the draw is 11/1 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
City cruised to a 3-0 win at Turf Moor in August and have won the past 12 meetings between the sides and haven't conceded a goal in their last eight games either.
Burnley's last win over City came in 2015 and last success away was at Maine Road in 1963.
Players to watch
Kevin De Bruyne has made all the difference since his return from injury and netted at St James' Park against Newcastle United. The Belgian playmaker is 15/8 to score anytime with Boylesport.
Zeki Amdouni has netted two in his last three games for Burnley and the Swiss is 15/2 to score anytime with William Hill.
Anything else catch the eye?
Manchester City to win to nil is 4/6 with Coral and while it may be odds-on, it looks an obvious and solid call here in a game City are almost certain to dominate and it's the score that has been the outcome in the last eight meetings in this fixture as stated.
However, it may not be a bloodbath. Burnley have been competitive and have rarely been thrashed. In fact, they actually have the seventh-best defensive record away from home in the league.
That gives us some scope to go for a home win and under 3.5 goals at 11/8 with bet365.
