Lazio vs Roma

, KO: 19:45 , Stadio Olimpico
Roma

The final Rome derby of the season will take place on Sunday, 13 April with Lazio ‘welcoming' Roma to the Stadio Olimpico.

More than just local bragging rights are at stake this weekend with both clubs pushing for a place in the top four and Champions League qualification.

As things stand, Lazio are in sixth position but are just one place and two points higher than Roma. Bologna, who currently occupy fourth spot, are two points further ahead.

How the bookies view it: A tough match to call

The bookies are finding this a hard match to price which isn't a huge surprise when you look at how close they are to each other after 31 games played. BoyleSports have given the edge to Roma and have priced an ‘away' win at 6/4. A win for Lazio has been priced at 17/10 while the draw has been priced at 21/10.

Head to head: Advantage Roma

Roma will be licking their lips ahead of this one as they have won the last two Rome derbies. Earlier this season, when Roma were classed as the home team in their shared stadium, the Giallorossi ran out as comfortable 2-0 winners and an identical result here isn't outside the realms of possibility. Lazio haven't recorded a win in this fixture in more than two years.

Players to watch: Two former Girona strikers to go head-to-head

This match will put together Valentin Castellanos and Artem Dovbyk – two players who made their names in La Liga for Girona.

Both players only played for Girona for a year before moving on and both shone in Catalonia. In 2022/23, Castellanos bagged 13 league goals for the club – a tally he is yet to match in a Lazio shirt.

Meanwhile, in 2023/24, Dovbyk scored 24 league goals in the red of Girona after being signed to replace Castellanos after the latter moved to Lazio.

Neither of the two players have managed to replicate their Girona form in Serie A thus far. Castellanos has scored nine goals in 22 apps for Lazio so far this season while Dovbyk has scored 11 in 27 for Roma. Will either man become the hero on Sunday?

Predicted line-ups

Lazio manager, Marco Baroni, has a headache ahead of this one as part of him will want to rest all of his best players for the clash with Bodo/Glimt on Thursday. Roma, meanwhile, only have league interest from here on our so Ranieri will pick the strongest XI available to him.

Lazio: Provedel – Marusic, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini – Rovella, Guendouzi – Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni – Castellanos

Roma: Svilar – Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka – Saelemaekers, Paredes, Kone, Angelino – Soule, Pellegrini, Dovbyk

Anything else catch the eye?

Goals have been hard to come by for both clubs in recent times so don't expect a goal-fest at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night. Fewer than three goals have been scored in three of Lazio's last four league matches while the same can be said for all of Roma's four most recent league fixtures. Under 2.5 goals to be scored on Sunday has been priced at 7/10 by Boylesports.
