Denmark vs France

, KO: 19:45 Sep 25, 2022, Parken Stadium, Copenhagen
France

DENMARK and France meet on Sunday in what will be a Copenhagen dress rehearsal for their World Cup group game in Qatar later this year.

The Danes well and truly fluffed their lines on their last outing after a disappointing 2-1 defeat in Croatia which will almost certainly cost them a place in the Finals.

France have followed in the footsteps of many of the bigger countries in the Nations League and have played nowhere near theor capabilities. They languish four points behind the Danes and could even finish bottom if they lose in Denmark and Austria defeat leaders Croatia.

However, they looked like something approaching their undoubted potential while easing to a 2-0 win over Austria in Paris.

The Danes had an immaculate World Cup qualifying campaign until they visited Hampden and since then they have lost in a friendly in the Netherlands and home and away to Croatia.

Didier Deschamps came under pressure when he guided Les Blues to four matches without a win including two home defeats to the Danes and Croatia.

Considering the players he has at his disposal, France should be doing better than their recent progress suggests.

How the bookies view it

The World Champions are favourites here at 23/20 at bet365. The Danes can be backed at home at 27/10 with UniBet. The draw is 23/10 with Paddy Power.

Recent head to heads

Denmark pulled off a stunning comeback win in Paris in June to stun the French 2-1 at their home.

The nations played at the last World Cup too and it was a goalless draw in Moscow in 2018.

Players to watch

With Karim Benzema injured, Kylian Mbappe stepped up to the plate with a goal against Austria in midweek. The PSG talisman is 9/5 with Paddy Power to net at the Parken Stadium and that's decent considering he has already netted 11 goalsd this season.

Christian Eriksen appears to be back to his old form and the Manchester United man netted against Croatia in midweek. He is 4/1 with bet365 to score.

Anything else catch the eye?

Although France have got little to play for in terms of the Nations League, this is a serious game for them before they start their World Cup defence and they should prove to be too strong for the Danes, who may have peaked.

The hosts looked like serious dark horses during the qualification process, but they have suffered a few defeats since then and with France's attacking prowess they can win here.

Three of Denmark's last five games have seen a 2-1 scoreline and with over 2.5 goals attractively priced at 6/5 with Paddy Power, that could be the way to go here.
