ARSENAL will be targeting back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they come up against London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
After falling by the wayside in the final stages of last season's title race, the Gunners will be hoping they go one better this time around in their quest to end a two-decade wait for Premier League glory.
Mikel Arteta's men hit the ground running with a narrow 2-1 opening weekend victory over Nottingham Forest, in a game which brought up my main Bet Builder.
The Gunners will be eager to keep the momentum going from that opening-day triumph when they make the short trip across town to Crystal Palace on Monday.
Roy Hodgson returned from retirement to replace Patrick Vieira in mid-March and he subsequently steered the Eagles to a commendable 11th-place finish.
That prompted the Palace hierarchy to reward the vastly experienced manager with the reins for the 2023-24 season, with Hodgson and Co getting off to a perfect start with a 1-0 win at newly-promoted Sheffield United last weekend.
Outright Betting
Crystal Palace are unbeaten at home under Roy Hodgson latest run as manager but the bookies' odds suggest that sequence will be snapped here, with the Eagles 5/1 (PaddyPower) outsiders while a share of the Selhurst Park spoils pays out at 3/1 (PaddyPower) with the same firm.
Arsenal emerged victorious from this venue on the opening day of last season and they are short priced 11/20 (Bet 365) favourites to repeat the trick on their latest trip to south London.
Betting Angles
Arsenal are just a little too skinny for my liking here, so I'll head to the Bet Builder market and merge Arsenal to Win, Over 2 Arsenal Corners and Over 1 Match Card at 4/5 (Bet 365).
Despite coming up short in last season's title race, Mikel Arteta's men boasted the best away record in the division last term and they will have to replicate those high standards if they are to mount another credible challenge this time around.
Admittedly Roy Hodgson's sides have long had a reputation as tough nuts to crack, but the Gunners were very adept at showing their class when coming up against the division’s lesser lights last term, and I suspect the visitors' superior quality will ultimately tell here.
For the second part of my Bet Builder, I'll go with a minimum of three Arsenal corners – a line Mikel Arteta's vibrant young side covered in 32 of their 38 Premier League assignments last season.
To round off the selection, I'll back referee David Coote to dish out at least two cards in what should be a hard-fought contest under the south London lights.
This 4/5 (Bet 365) combination clicked in Arsenal's opening weekend win over Nottingham Forest and with all things considered, I'm happy to support the same formula at Selhurst Park on Monday night
Given that he has established himself as Arsenal's talisman, I'll also take Bukayo Saka to either Score or Assist at 5/4 with William Hill.
The Gunners winger – who opened his account for the season in spectacular style last weekend – racked up 25 direct goal involvements across 38 Premier League games last season, so he looks nicely priced to either notch or assist at Selhurst Park.

Over 4.5 Cards 5/6 Bet365
This season has started with a bang on the bookings, and it’s a trend I’m happy to support again tonight.
From the 18 games so far this season, this bet would have landed in 11 of these, at 61.11%…with this in mind I would have expected this to be a little shorter, and feel it’s more than acceptable to get involved with the odds available for us.
Both sides having plenty of flair, and are happy to get the ball down and draw the fouls from the opposing team, this seems a perfect recipe for bookings.
The ref managed to book 4 in his first game this season, and that from a totally one sided game when Brighton played Luton, I am expecting this to be a lot closer than the odds suggest.
