Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool

, KO: 12:30 Mar 12, 2022, Amex Stadium
Liverpool

LIVERPOOL will be seeking to stay on the coat-tails of Premier League leaders Manchester City when they lock horns with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

A 1-0 victory over West Ham last weekend marked the Reds' seventh top-flight triumph on the trot, on an evening where both of my recommended plays delivered profit.

Jurgen Klopp's side have since advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, despite having their seven-match unbeaten in Europe's elite club competition brought to an end by Inter Milan in a 1-0 defeat at Anfield in midweek.

The Merseysiders will now turn their attention back to league matters as they look to close the six-point gap between them and Premier League pacesetters Man City.

Brighton, meanwhile, will enter this contest looking to snap a four-game losing streak in the Premier League, the most recent of which was a 2-1 loss at Newcastle last weekend.

That latest setback means the Seagulls have tumbled out the top half of the table, where they are hoping to finish for the first time following their promotion in 2017-18.

Outright Betting

Brighton & Hove Albion, who have won just one of their last 10 Premier League home games, head into the fixture as 6/1 (SBK) underdogs while a repeat of October's stalemate between the pair has been priced up at 18/5 (SBK).

Liverpool arrive at the Amex as odds-on 8/15 (SBK) favourites as they aim to make it eight Premier League wins on the bounce.

Betting Angles

Liverpool are a bit too skinny to side with at the above-mentioned odds but get some 10/11 (Bet 365) by throwing under five goals into the mix and that looks like a worthy boost in price.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp's charges are capable of blowing teams away with a seemingly endless supply of goals, it's worth noting that 15 of the visitors' 19 top-flight triumphs this term have produced four goals or fewer.

Brighton, on the other hand, have already proven themselves as a tough nut to crack this season, with the Seagulls tasting defeat just eight times thus far.

What's more, just one of Albion's 13 Premier League home games this season has generated five strikes, with under 2.5 goals copping in a hefty 10 of their 13 league outings at their East Sussex headquarters.

Therefore, Graham Potter's side, who have avoided defeat in each of their last three meetings with the men from Merseyside, should be able to keep this contest competitive.

With that in mind, as well as Liverpool perhaps having one eye on their crucial game in hand away at Arsenal next midweek, merging an away win in a match that features under five goals makes appeal.

With all things considered, the 4/5 (Bet 365) about over three Asian Cards also stands out given that referee Mike Dean will oversee proceedings at the Amex on Saturday lunchtime.

This selection would see us paid out if four or more cards are awarded, with our stake refunded if exactly three cards are flashed, and that looks worthy of some interest considering the aforementioned Dean has dished out three or more bookings in eight of his last nine Premier League assignments.
