Borussia Monchengladbach vs WolfsburgGerman Bundesliga, KO: 17:30 Jun 16, 2020, Borussia-Park
THE Bundesliga continues this midweek and the action gets back underway on Tuesday evening as Borussia Monchengladbach welcome Wolfsburg to Borussia-Park.
Only one place separates these two sides in the league table, however, the 10 point gap between the two sees Gladbach fiercely competing for the final Champions League berth while Wolfsburg are targeting a place in Europe's secondary club competition, namely, the Europa League.
Indeed, Marco Rose's men fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Bayern Munich last time out, however, the Foals fought bravely and three points on Tuesday evening would send them back into the top four, at least temporarily.
Standing in Gladbach's way this midweek is a Wolfsburg side who have performed better away from home this term having racked up 27 of their 46 points on the road thus far.
Wolfsburg wobbled at home again on Saturday when they threw away a two goal lead at home to Freiburg – the only point that the Wolves have collected on home turf since the German season came out of cold storage.
However, Oliver Glasner's side have taken maximum points from their three road trips since the resumption and a fourth away win of the spin would put them firmly in the driving seat to finish in the top-six.
Wolfsburg have triumphed in five of their last six Bundesliga away days and another win on their travels on Tuesday night will tempt plenty of punters at 5/2 with William Hill.
Indeed, we only have a small sample to look at, however, I've been pleasantly surprised to see that German match referees have been dishing out more cards on average compared to the average figures before the enforced break.
That line of thought coupled with the fact that both of these teams still have plenty to play for has attracted me to the 10/11 that Betfred are offering for each team to collect 20+ booking points on Tuesday night.
Gladbach have collected two or more cards across their last three league matches – including one red card – and it's also worth noting that Marco Rose's side rank fourth in the Bundesliga's disciplinary standings.
What's more, Wolfsburg are not too far behind when it comes to clocking up cards and they have picked up three or more bookings in all but one of their matches since the Bundesliga season got back underway.
In terms of who will come out on top in this tussle, this looks like a tricky fixture to tackle from a betting perspective given that Gladbach will be without a number of key players, not to mention Wolfsburg's unpredictability.
However, goals could provide profit when you consider that the Foals have failed to keep a clean sheet in 13 of their last 14 league games and 12 of the last 14 Bundesliga matches at this venue have generated over 2.5 strikes.
Furthermore, Wolfsburg have hit seven goals across their last three away games and in Wout Weghorst (above) the Wolves possess one the most dangerous and in-form strikers in the division
There is little value in backing both teams to score or over 2.5 match strikes at a general 8/15 and 4/7 respectively, however, combining the two aforementioned bets by utilising Bet 365's Bet Builder feature will boost the price up to a much-more enticing 20/23.
Taking this approach would have banked profit in eight of the 12 games that these two teams have contested collectively since the restart and I'm happy to side with a repeat here in what should be an action-packed encounter at Borussia-Park on Tuesday evening.
