Bodo/Glimt and FC Zurich face off in their second Group A fixture in the UEFA Europa League with both teams still seeking their first win in the competition. Bodo have a reputation for being solid at home and should be too strong for the visitors who are all over the place at the moment.
Things have not been particularly smooth for Bodo/Glimt in recent weeks having claimed just one win from their last four matches. The Norwegian side head into Thursday’s fixture off the back of a 3-2 defeat at Tromso last Sunday.
Despite being slightly off colour lately, Bodo/Glimt still made a promising start to their Europa League campaign as they earned a 1-1 draw at PSV Eindhoven. They struck just before the break through Albert Gronbaek but failed to hold on for the win.
Bodo/Glimt will be happy to return to Aspmyra Stadion where they often do their best work. Kjetil Knutsen’s men won their home matches during the Champions League qualifiers, keeping clean sheets in all four wins.
FC Zurich began their Europa League campaign with a defeat as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Arsenal in their opening fixture. Having gone behind early in the contest Mirlind Kryeziu struck an equaliser just before the break but they were able to hold on for the point.
Things have been pretty rough for FC Zurich as they head into Thursday’s clash off the back of four straight defeats. They were beaten 3-2 by Servette in a Super Liga fixture last Sunday despite a brace from Jonathan Okita.
However, it is not all doom and gloom for FC Zurich as they have surprisingly impressed on their recent travels. The defeat at Servette ended a run of four matches without defeat for Franco Foda’s men.
