Bayern Munich Women will take on Manchester United Women in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday night, as both teams look to keep their European dreams alive.
The German side come into the match as the clear favourites to qualify following a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford last week, but the visitors will still feel in the tie as long as they are just one goal adrift.
Can Marc Skinner lead United to another famous comeback against Bayern Munich, or will the Germans prove to be too strong?
How the bookies view it: Bayern start as favourites
Bayern Munich are the favourites not only to qualify from this quarter-final, but also to win on the night in Bavaria. Bet365 have priced a home win as short as 12/25, while a win for the visitors has been priced at 19/5. The draw, which would be enough to see the hosts reach the semi-finals, has been priced at 3/1.
Head-to-head: Advantage Bayern
There are a lot of things in Bayern's favour on Wednesday night, not least the H2H record between these two sides. The two Women's teams have only faced each other on two previous occasions, with Bayern winning both. The only previous competitive fixture was last week's first leg in Manchester, which Bayern won 3-2.
Players to watch: Can United tame Harder?
If Manchester United are to pull off a dramatic comeback on Wednesday night, then they are going to need to find a way to keep Pernille Harder quiet. The Bayern Munich striker scored twice at Old Trafford last week and is currently second only to Alessia Russo in the race for the UEFA Champions League Golden Boot.
The 33-year-old is already having the best season of her Bayern Munich career, and if she can keep up her current levels, then she could even lead the German side to their first-ever Women's Champions League triumph.
In addition to keeping Harder quiet, United need goals themselves. A minimum of two will be needed on the night, so the loss of Ella Toone is a bad one.
Marc Skinner has struggled to find solutions in Toone's absence, but there is a feeling that more is to come from Melvine Mallard, who was tipped for big things when she signed from Lyon in 2023. Could this be a breakthrough night for the 25-year-old?
Predicted line-ups
Both sides have their fair share of injury concerns. Bayern Munich are missing Lena Oberdof, Jovan Damnjovanovic, Anna Klink, Alara Sehitler, Sarah Zadrazil, Klara Buh, and Katharina Naschenweng. Meanwhile, Man United are without the aforementioned Toone and Celin Bizet, Anna Sandberg, Dominique Jansee, Ellen Wangerheim, Leah Galton, and Elisabeth Terland.
Bayern Munich Women: Mahmutovic – Gwinn, Viggosdottir, Gilles, Simon – Tanikawa, Stanway – Dallmann, Caruso, Kett – Harder
Manchester United Women: Tullis-Joyce – Lundkvist, Le Tissier, Turner, Rolfo – Zigiotti Olme, Miyazawa, Naalsund – Park, Malard, Schuller
Anything else catch the eye?
Bayern Munich's impressive form goes beyond simply winning matches. All but one of their last 12 victories have all come by a margin of two goals or more, which illustrates just how big a mountain Man United have to climb on Wednesday.
