AC MILAN conclude their Serie A season with a home game against Salernitana at the San Siro on Saturday night.
The Rossoneri go into their final league match of the season having already confirmed a second place finish, a distant 19 points adrift of fierce rivals Inter.
That huge gap can perhaps be attributed to the growing reports in Italy that suggest AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli’s reign could come to an end when the curtain comes down on the campaign on Sunday.
After slumping to a 3-1 defeat at Torino last time out, Pioli will be keen to see his side sign off for the season with a win against Salernitana.
The already-relegated visitors have long been doomed to the drop, with Salerno-based outfit failing to bank three points in each of their last 19 Serie A matches, a sequence that stretches all the way to late December.
Stefano Colantuono’s men will make the trip to Milan this weekend off the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Hellas Verona.
How the bookies view it: Rossoneri to romp to victory
Despite limping towards the campaign's finish line, AC Milan are heavy 1/6 favourites on Bet 365.
Salernitana are a whopping 12/1 (Bet 365) to snap their 19-match winless run in Serie A while a share of the San Siro spoils is an unfancied 7/1 (Bet 365).
Head to head: Heavy weather forecast for Milan?
Somewhat surprisingly, AC Milan have triumphed in just two of the five league meetings between the pair across the last three seasons.
One of the measly 16 points that Salernitana have collected this season came in the reverse fixture, with the duo playing out an action-packed 2-2 draw back in December.
Players to watch: Olivier and out
It has already been announced that Olivier Giroud will leave AC Milan at the end of the season to join Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC. France's all-time leading goalscorer will be determined to bring his three-year stay at the San Siro to an end in style but he is a mere 1/3 (Bet 365) to make the net bulge on Saturday night.
After netting twice in his last outing at the San Siro, the anytime goalscorer value could lie with Christian Pulisic at 5/6 on Bet 365.
Salernitana midfielder Giulio Maggiore has clocked up nine cards across all competitions this season and he looks overpriced to reach double figures at 4/1 on Bet 365.
Predicted line-ups
Both Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao are expected to be restored to AC Milan’s starting XI following last week’s 3-1 loss at Torino.
After returning from injury and getting 45 minutes under his belt last weekend, Salernitana’s aforementioned Giulio Maggiore could get the nod from the off at the San Siro.
AC MIlan: Sportiello; Calabria, Tomori, Thiaw, Terracciano; Musah, Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao
Salernitana: Fiorillo; Pierozzi, Fazio, Pirola; Zanoli, Maggiore, Coulibaly, Basic; Vignato, Tchaouna; Ikwuemesi
Anything else catch the eye?
Coupling up AC Milan to win by a two-goal margin or greater alongside the hosts to score in both halves will bring about a 4/5 (Bet 365) Bet Builder that holds appeal.
Only Inter Milan have outscored the Rossoneri in Serie A this season and they should get plenty of chances to add to their tally when they come up against the leakiest defence in the division.
It’s also worth noting that this Bet Builder would have paid out in each of AC Millan’s last two home wins, and there is plenty of scope for a repeat on Saturday night against out-of-sorts Salernitana.
