Selections to watch
Cole Palmer – 11/4
With seven goals and five assists in his first 10 Premier League games this season, Cole Palmer currently stands as the favourite to win the POTY award. Despite a blank against Manchester United at the weekend, the attacking midfielder's impact cannot be denied.
A four-goal haul against Brighton remains the standout performance in a campaign which has followed on perfectly from last year's breakout season.
With Chelsea finally finding some stability and making a genuine push for the top four spots, Palmer has been the man to provide consistent quality for the Blues, and thus represents good value to win the award.
Erling Haaland – 3/1
After missing a last-minute sitter to draw level with Bournemouth at the weekend, Erling Haaland has now scored only one goal in his last five Premier League games. A blistering run of form had preceded this dry spell, with the Norwegian reaching 10 league goals after merely the season's first five fixtures.
His odds have now lengthened from 7/4 to 3/1 after a few poor performances have seen him fail to find the net. If Haaland wants any hope of taking home the accolade he will need to find his shooting boots again quickly.
Mohamed Salah – 8/1
On the other hand, Salah continued his excellent scoring form this weekend by bagging the winner against a tough-to-beat Brighton side. Salah now has seven league goals this season, scoring in each of his last three matches, meaning his odds also shortened to 8/1 from the previous price of 10/1.
It is tough to look past Salah, who has won the award twice before, as he continues to be at his prolific best under new manager Arne Slot. With 164 goals in 273 games for Liverpool, Salah's consistency for the club has been unmatched, and he is showing no signs of letting up. At 8/1 he is very much a good-value choice.
Bukayo Saka – 10/1
Bukayo Saka remains an outsider for the award at 10/1 after a blunt Arsenal attack failed to convert against Newcastle at the weekend. In spite of this, Saka has once again been Arsenal's standout performer this season, notching three goals and nine assists in his side's first 10 matches.
With Arsenal falling to fifth place in the table, the Gunners will need big performances from their key men if they want to have a shot at winning the title.
This is where one of Hale End's finest products could really stake his claim on the award. Arsenal have two big fixtures against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest on the horizon, and a few big showings from their most prolific winger could put him right back in contention to take home the POTY award.
