Paul Pogba has often been the subject of controversy in the football world. Coming to the end of an 18-month doping ban, the French international appears to be looking for a new challenge.
Released from a second spell at Juventus after only 12 appearances, a giant of French football now appears poised to snap up the 31-year-old.
That team is Marseille. Roberto De Zerbi's team are already nine points adrift of PSG, despite being in third place in the Ligue 1 table.
Notwithstanding the potential pitfalls of gambling on Pogba, who has often been hit-and-miss despite flashes of brilliance, it could be a risk worth taking if the Frenchman can avenge his suspension by getting back to his best.

Current favourites
Marseille – 17/20
Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille have shown they are not afraid of signing controversial players, as demonstrated by the acquisitions of Mason Greenwood and out-spoken forward Neal Maupay. Marseille appear to be comfortable favourites for Pogba's signature, after former player Adil Rami urged the midfielder to make the switch to Marseille during a livestream.
After a 3-1 home defeat to Auxerre in their most recent fixture, the French giants have demonstrated they still possess potential weaknesses, and the signing of Pogba could address those issues. If they are to mount any sort of title challenge against PSG, a midfielder with career assists tallying 160 could be exactly the answer. Bookies have Marseille priced at 17/20, a comfortable favourite for Pogba's next destination.
Al Hilal – 3/1
Saudi Arabia has become the desired destination of a large number of declining footballers in the past year, and that could be no different for Pogba. Now 31, Al Hilal would offer the midfielder another substantial pay cheque before he hangs up his boots, and this may be enough to tempt to him from signing with one of Europe's top outfits.
With the most recent Saudi Pro League champions being priced at 3/1 by odds providers, they seem an excellent choice for punters, as there is no firm suggestion that Pogba desires a move to another European superpower. Money talks, and Al Hilal's odds prove that they are far from out of the question.
Atletico Madrid – 5/1
As was recently reported by El Nacional, Pogba has allegedly offered his services to Atletico Madrid in January. Diego Simeone's team are also third in their respective division, already seven points behind league leaders Barcelona. A midfield rotation of Rodrigo De Paul, youngster Pablo Barrios and the ageing Koke has not quite been enough in Simeone's 4-4-2 formation, and the added presence of Pogba could enhance their prospects.
Atletico have also been disappointing in the Champions League, with only six points from four games. We project 5/1 odds for Pogba to move to Atletico on the basis of the reports, which would seem a good choice given he has expressed interest in joining the club himself.
