Next Chelsea Manager Odds: Roberto De Zerbi 4/6 after Poch departure
Next Chelsea Manager Odds

The next Chelsea manager odds have been updated after it was announced tonight that Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea by mutual consent

It's been reported that Pochettino agreed to depart Chelsea on Tuesday morning, following an end-of-season review by Chelsea hierarchy.

The departure of Pochettino makes him the third permanent manager to lose his job under the Todd Boehly ownership after Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. With Pochettino leaving Chelsea by mutual consent after just one year into the two-year contract he signed last summer, he looks set to bank a heavy compensation package from the London club.

There have been no reports of any bad blood as such between Pochettino and Chelsea but the search for a replacement is imminent with several names already doing the rounds to replace the Argentinian.

De Zerbi odds on favourite

Having announced his departure from Brighton earlier this month, after long being linked with the Chelsea job, Roberto De Zerbi is just 4/6 to fill the now-vacant Stamford Bridge hotseat.

Surprisingly, Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna is a name floating about this evening too. McKenna has already been linked heavily with Brighton. However, Chelsea's history of impatience with managers will be well-known to him. He is 8/1 to take the Chelsea job.

Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca and Girona's Michel are two others who are being mentioned in the list of potential candidates, though only the latter has a price – a distant one at 25/1.

Other Next Chelsea Manager odds

  • Thomas Tuchel – 4/1
  • Ruben Amorim – 9/1
  • Julian Nagelsmann- 12/1
  • Sebastian Hoeness – 12/1
  • Jose Mourinho – 16/1
  • Antonio Conte – 20/1

Poch departure a surprise on balance

Chelsea fired hot and cold during last season's campaign, but a run of five successive wins towards the business end, resulted in Chelsea qualifying for European football. Poch also took to the Carabao Cup final and the semi-final of the FA Cup.

On the whole though, Pochettino probably leaves Chelsea as an underachiever given the amount of money that was spent on players. Regardless, the news of his departure comes as a surprise as he had his squad in good form before the season ended.
