POLAND won to nil to give me a boost before the start of Russia 2018 on Thursday.
Well done to all the winners on Tuesday including Kelly who completed yet another £1000 challenge.
I'll start one on Thursday or Friday on Twitter but as usual mine will be voted for and be a slow burner as I attempt to reach £1000 for the third time this season.
That's the international friendlies finished with all qualifiers now pitched up in Russia so it will be a no-bet day for me although I'm putting up some group anteposts.
Big news today was Spain sacking manager Julen Lopetegui after he was appointed the new Real Madrid boss. It's an incredible decision just two days before their opener against Portugal and can't be anything but a negative.
I understand it's players who will perform on the pitch but they need guidance and the manager is always the most important member of the squad. Also the fact the Real stars fought to keep him is likely to mean a squad disunited – and at the best of teams there are problems among the different factions in the Spain group.
Spain are unbeaten in 20 under Lopetegui and it will be interesting to see who takes over for the finals – whether someone comes in from the outside or if a backroom staff member takes over.
Anyone who has backed Spain on the outrights will be worried and they are now a best 7-1 with McBookie.

After Georgia’s come back and England winning by a pip, I thought this bet was in. New Zealand were the big let downs, only coming to life in the last 10 mins. Sets up an interesting final between Fra and Eng.
Will be keeping a track of my world cup bets starting with a 100point bank.
My first tip is in the world cup opening fixture tmrw afternoon, Russia v Saudia Arabia.
You have to go back 11 games and almost one year to the 17th June 2017 to find the last time Russia kept a clean sheet, and that was against New Zealand who are ranked 120 in the world.
Now Saudi obviously aren’t world beaters but they are ranked 67 in the world and have had recent success in finding the net against Greece, Italy and Germany. Knowing that Russia and Egypt are their best chance of securing any points I really fancy Saudi to score against the hosts tomorrow.
I watched the friendly against Germany last week and was impressed with how they pounced with pace on their rare counter attacks, although admittedly, the finishing was poor.
You can have BTTS at a very generous 6/4, but the 5/4 on offer for a solitary Saudi goal is good enough for me.

I was looking at the specials coupon in Ladbrokes and one long term WC bet (hopefully!) caught the eye. Was hoping to get any thoughts from you experts! Every game extra time included to have more than 5 corners at 30/1. I know it’s a hell of a lot of matches but it’s a favourite bet of mine in the SPL and corners are usually around the 8 9 or 10 mark. Was going to have a substantial on it. Any thoughts yourself Paul?
Interesting stuff..think the key word here is more than 5…if it had been 5 or more that could have been tempting..Corners can be an indifferent market at times ..For example last night I had to leave for training after 82 mins of the Poland game and at that point had only mustered 2 corners .for all their superiority …but as in any sport it’s all about what happens on the day..GL..if you bet

Miroslav Klose loved a World Cup and tops the all-time goalscoring charts with 16 goals in 4 tournament appearances. And it often didn’t matter what form he was in coming into the tournament, either. In 2014, aged 36, he still bagged a couple despite being a bit-part player for the national side by that point. A fellow countryman statistically following in his footsteps is Thomas Muller. With 10 goals in his previous two tournament appearances (2010, 2014), you’ll no doubt hear commentators spewing narratives about his prolific scoring exploits on the grand stage when Germany take the field for the first time. Those 10 goals have come across a mere 13 games and put Muller joint 8th in the all-time list – with every chance of usurping Pele’s 12 World Cup goals this summer.
He hasn’t had the best of years at Bayern this season, scoring just the 15 in 45 appearances, but he has found himself in and out of the side at times. Germany come into the tournament well-fancied, but I don’t feel there is a real standout goalscorer in their final 23. Werner is useful at club-level but I’m not sure I see him banging them in this Summer. Mario Gomez is the ol’ reliable but I don’t see him featuring much. Aside from that, Germany’s squad contains a lot of forward thinking attacking midfielders and wingers (Reus, Draxler, Brandt). To me, Muller is the most natural goalscorer out of them lot.
Given his experience and his tournament record, I was surprised to see him a best 33/1 (Bet365) for the Golden Boot. Golden Boot winners aren’t always easy to predict (James Rodriguez, anyone?), but usually you look for a side that should go deep into the competition. Liking Germany’s chances, I noticed Paddy Power are paying 6 places each way on their market. Often, that means only a couple of goals puts you right into those paying places. Therefore, I think there’s value on Muller each way – if he sneaks into the Top 6 it’s a nice 5/1 winner. So, that’s my speculative longshot for the tournament.

Just had a look at the odds. Saudi Arabia are 10/1 to win tomorrow?! Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor. I’m not anticipating a Saudi win, but they’re not playing against Brazil here. Mad odds.

Alright gents. Will be leaving the WDW alone but have a few ante posts for the World Cup so here they are. Not much explanation needed. Think Uruguay have one of the best attacks in Cavani/Suarez/Dybala, but also have one of the best centre back pairings in Godin and Jimenez. Should top their group with ease and a decent draw should see them reaching the quarter final stages. They are the best outsider price in my opinion, with bookies offering odds on on England to reach the same stage (believe it when I see it).
With Uruguay having an easy group and should progress further than bookies expect, I think Suarez’s tally of 2.5 goals is reachable along as we don’t get antics. Same goes for Ronaldo at a shorter price but for 2.5 you have to consider this.
