Top Football Tips

IT was a day Man City laid down a marker in the title race while there was no romance of the Cup in Scotland.

City and Sergio Aguero destroyed Chelsea 6-0 to show how desperate they are to hold on to the title and in Scotland there were big wins for Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen ahead of Monday's last-eight draw.

Hearts -2AH and over 2.5 goals at Aberdeen were on my treble and Juventus won to give me a 12-5 success and a couple of points profit on the day.

Greg called the Scottish Cup game spot on for three winners out of three and it was a pretty good day all round. He has posted tips on Monday's reserve games. HullShaker also had a winner and has non-league goals tips today.

Big game on Monday is Wolves v Newcastle and while the home men will be well backed they have struggled against teams who sit in while picking up points against better opposition. Rafa Benitez's men suffered a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at St James's and will fight for every ball.

I can see Wolves edging it but for me they're too short at 4-6 and a draw wouldn't be a huge surprise. Newcastle will allow them possession and put men behind the ball so on a treble I'm taking under 3.5 match goals.

In the Scottish Cup there's a Highland derby between Championship rivals Ross County and Inverness and it will be tight. The sides have met three times this season with two draws and a 2-1 win for County. Best bet here could be both to score with 11 of the last 14 meetings going that way and that's part two of the treble.

Complete the treble with Bundesliga 2 leaders Hamburg at home to Dynamo Dresden. When Hamburg were relegated for the first time last season they were expected to bounce back at the first attempt and are on course to do so. Six wins out of seven have edged them ahead of Cologne and they will expect to beat a Dresden side whose priority is safety.

Happy to risk 1.5pts on a treble but if your funds are limited HullShaker's double could be the safer option.

    Tomorrow bet
    Wolves 20+BP 13/8

    • kyle b 5 years ago

In the reverse fixture back in Dec, Wolves picked up 50 BP in a game they edged 2-1 in the dying minutes. Newcastle have the ability to frustrate the best of sides which is no more evident than the recent shocker with Man City where they triumphed 2-1, the Blues also picked up 30BP in that game and I believe the Magpies will be effective on the counter in this tie this evening. As long as the game remains tight which is what I expect, I believe Wolves will commit sufficient fouls as Newcastle transition into attack, the key here will be exploiting the wide areas as Wolves wing backs will play very high up the pitch. Think the bet represents value and should be a good game, Wolves have struck 20+BP in there last 3 on home soil and this in with a chance.

Decent wee day yesterday but for a Trapani goal…

    Bisceglie v TRAPANI – 4/5 💩 0-0
    CATANZARO – 1 v Paganese ✅ 4-1

    2/1

    Scottish Cup

    Celtic o2.5tgls – 10/11 ✅ 5-0
    Aberdeen o2.5tgls – 5/4 ✅ 4-1
    Hearts o2.5tgls 1/2 ✅ 4-0

    5.2/1 ✅

    All 5 – 17.4/1 💩 Trapani

And a wee nibble at all 3 home favourites in the Scottish Cup – 2 at 12/1 ✅

Team news for Celtic reserves today to be looked at later and the recent £2m acquisition Vakoun Issouf Bayo might get a run out but without him Celtic should win well against a Falkirk team that’s lost 3/4 aways and shipping 14 in the process

Sarri next manager to leave at 6/4
Great price imo, can’t see how Chelsea will keep Sarri on.Chelsea are in danger of not finishing in the top four and with Chelsea being ruthless with their managers it’s a case of when not if.prices with skybet

    • oneoff 5 years ago

      surely silva next to go?

    • maccathered 5 years ago

I reckon Everton will wait until the end of the season at the very least,Chelsea don’t mess about and are ruthless with managers.

    • mr h 5 years ago

I reckon Sarri will go before Silva…2 clubs with totally different expectation levels. Everton were realistically looking at 7th place at best with the top 6 generally a given and are 9th so in the bigger picture they’re not far off their ceiling for the season position wise, they’ll give him time to sort it out on the park. Chelsea are 6th and just been humiliated by a team Abramovic was expecting too challenge, sitting 6th their miles off where they think they should be. Roman has previous for treating managers like a Roman emperor 😂 😂 😂 Sarri for me Macca, I’m with you on this 👌

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Sarri said in his press conference that “he doesn’t hear from Abramovich”,i got a funny feeling he will do very soon lol

    • jimba 5 years ago

It will be interesting to see what Chelsea do, don’t forget they’ve got a cup final in two weeks against city🤔

    • maccathered 5 years ago

They have a cup final but they also have top four ambitions,it would be devastating to the club if they were to miss out on the champions league again and i can’t see Sarri being the man to turn things around.Chelsea don’t give managers long and the 0-6 loss to City is the nail in the coffin imo.

    • old al 5 years ago

Think it was you who tipped Chelsea not in top four at the beginning of the season Macca – got it in a long range acca. anyway. Looks a lot better thanks to Man Utd resurgence.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

I did indeed and i can’t see it now, only thing that concerns me is Man Utd have some tough games coming up so if Chelsea pick up they could capitalise.

    • newts68 5 years ago

I reckon Leicester’s manager will go next after what Peter Schmeichael said yesterday. Obviously unrest in the dressing room

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

only thing that could save Sarri is winning the cup final if he gets that long.
As I said on the evidence of yesterday Chelsea have no chance in the final.

    • mr h 5 years ago

Can’t believe City are 4/6 to score twice in that cup final, that’s printing money based on yesterday’s evidence and I don’t think Chelsea have the ability to turn it round 6/4 giving Chelsea a goal of a start is a standout too

    • maccathered 5 years ago

There is no way you are going to see the same game as the league result,City might not win this one,it’s not a given by any stretch.A wounded Chelsea could prove to be a dangerous opponent.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

No 2 games are the same and this is on neutral ground.
But City are so far ahead of Chelsea I can’t see any other result especially with a trophy up for grabs and Pep may need one.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

What happened yesterday mr f is because Chelsea tried going toe to toe with City, this payed right into City’s hands and that why Chelsea lost so badly. If Chelsea set up defensively (which they should in the cup final)then imo they can beat City. There is only one team in England that can go toe to toe with City and win and thats Liverpool.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Like the Norwich game I’ll have to disagree but everyone has their own opinion which is quite right.

    • sam i am 5 years ago

Have already placed a maximum bet on Man City (-1) at 9/5 and may well have another as prices will surely fall before next Sunday, well spotted!
But as Macca has alluded to, cup finals can often be tight affairs.
There’s nothing certain in sports betting.
      Time will tell.

    Midtjylland > 1.5 TGS, Jong Ajax > 2.5 MGS 6/5
Onuachu ATGS 5/4 – quarter stake
Midtjylland can hopefully get a couple at lowly Vendsyssel. Onuachu netted last time out against them and scored in the last winter break friendly against Astana. Usually goals when Jong Ajax play. Last H2H with Roda was a 2-1. 38 goals scored and conceded in the 2 teams last 4 games – 4.75 goals / game. GL all

Mabil had a blinder for Australia recently and looks at much better player than a season back, he is lighting quick and those to to score has every chance against a far inferior team.

Last Scottish Cup game is a Highland Derby and it could be feisty if the last meeting is anything to go by. These 2 met on December 29th and shared 7Y & 2R between them in a 2-1 home win for County. Being a cup tie it’ll add to the occasion and hopefully simmering bad blood from the previous meeting 😁 50+ booking points is 5/4 but I like BTTS and 20+ booking points each team at 11/4 which has landed in the last 2 with the 2nd most recent H2H a 2-2 draw with 2Y a piece

    Ross County v ICT

    Wolves v Newcastle
    Over 2.5 goals at 6/5(NAP)*****
Over 3.5 goals at 3/1 (NB)***
Looking forward to this game and i have to say the prices for goals are pretty damn good,i put this down to the fact that Newcastle set up defensively and are tough to beat.In this game though i think they will be more open than usual as the defensive minds only really work when they play the big guns.I think Newcastle will have a go here and i certainly expect them to score,Wolves can be unpredictable but there is one thing about them they can bang in the goals also, games involving Wolves have been pretty high scoring just lately 3,3,3,2,4 goals scored in their last 5 games, given Wolves are at home i think we could see a higher scoring game than the bookies think.
    Correct score 3-2
    Best of luck all

    • sean567 5 years ago

My own team so decided to stay away from it, but I think there will be goals as well. almost every game where the onus has been on wolves as the attacking team they have conceded, and after Cardiff burnley and palace picking up points we have to go for it.

Decided to do the Ross County bet in a double

    Wolves v Newcastle

Last 3 have been feisty affairs with 7Y & 1R in 2-1 Wolves win in Dec, 5Y the game before that a 1-0 Newcastle win and 8Y & 1R the 3rd game back a 2-0 Wolves win. Both sides have had 3+ corners in each of those 3 and o1.5mgls has landed in 2/3

    O1.5mgls, 3+ corners each and 30+ booking points – 15/8

I’ve doubled it with the Ross County game

Ross County v ICT BTTS and 20+ BP – 11/4

    One for tomorrow night
    Man Utd v PSG
Man Utd to win at 11/8(NAP)******
One hell of a price for the homeside here and i cannot understand why they aren’t odds on.PSG have far to many injuries to compete here,Neymar,Cavani,Veratti,Munier all out injured this game should really be a walk in the park for Man Utd who know they must take a big lead to PSG and that’s why backing goals also looks the way to go,me personally just can’t see how PSG can cover for their injury crisis,it’s ok haveing the riches but no good if there is no strength in depth.

    • alex_mufc83 5 years ago

I’m favouring a United to win also Macca, but won’t be a walk in the park with it being the Champions League. Despite their injuries it’s still PSG after all. Plenty of World Class players still on the pitch; Mbappe, Di Maria, Draxler, Buffon in net… I’m going to the game tomorrow managed to score some almost pitch-side seats in the South Stand should be a top atmosphere.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

It should be easy enough without the threat of Neymar and Cavani psg”s MAIN men, they have Mbappe but that’s not much kop when you don’t have the finishers. Also no theatrics from Neymar which means the game should flow better.

    • sean567 5 years ago

Saw this earlier and jumped on it in a wdw accer for tomorrow. Great price. 2-1 united for me

    • alex_mufc83 5 years ago

aye.. think PSG will score given our generally poor defence despite improvements to it since Ole joined. yeah glad Neymar isn’t playing for the sole purpose of making it a more exciting/flowing game… sick of that melt falling over every 5 minutes. sean had 2-1 in my mind also. be more than happy with that.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

I think United will be looking for either a bigger scoreline or a clean sheet away goals count remember. These players could be fit for the return leg.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Cavani should be back for 2nd leg by Neymar won’t be.

I did mate sent it to my mate earlier and he didn’t believe me. Obviously coz there’s no transfer fee involved the agent has got them to whack what they would’ve paid into his wages. Great deal for Ramsey- as for the rest of the world, if that’s the benchmark then god help us

mr f. ive been reluctant to praise hearts despite a decent run of results (bar loss to dundee). football being played has been grim but effective so i was keen to have a wee eway on them for scottish cup outright. 16/1 before home win v livvy in 4th round yet still same price when given a home tie v auchinleck. couldnt understand why so had to get on at 16/1. now 12/1 but will see come 9.15 tonight if it is a decent price.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Reason being the Auchinleck was regarded as a gimme and the big guns avoided each other.
All depends on the draw but I don’t see Hearts winning it with Celtic and Rangers still in.

    Skugor (+5.5 games)
    Monfils to win a set
    Jaziri +5.5

    6/4

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

      Cheers and good luck.

  58. elvis parsley 5 years ago

    HULL SHAKER.
what do you reckon about ramsbottom scoring at Fylde tomorrow in the replay ?.

11-10 at skybet (team to score 1+ goal heading).
They have made a Rick with the price as they have both to score at 10-11 !!

1st match was 5-5 and rammy scored 3 at Weymouth in the last round on a Tuesday evening.
Might be my daily NAP ??
