Mr Fixit’s Top Tips: Take a chance on goals at Wigan

IT looked like being a tale of woe for me until a late Espanyol goal landed a 6-1 both to score treble winner.

Games at Nice and Lille came up earlier and while Espanyol took their time they got there in the end.

Earlier I'd been denied by a last-minute Benevento goal that killed the Super Single and lost out on the the Top Treble when Gent had an injury-time effort ruled out that would have beaten Mechelen.

And it was hard lines for Chris Guy who saw Hamilton score first against Rangers – but it wasn't Ioannis Skondras who would have won him £25k.

Well done to Jordan and anyone else who posted winners on Sunday.

It's fairly quiet on Monday although League One title chasers Wigan will be trying to do a Rochdale and push Man City hard when they meet at the DW. As usual this could depend on how strong City go although with the likes of Will Grigg and Nick Powell posing a goal threat I like the look of both scoring.

Elsewhere Blackburn entertain Bury in League One, Lazio tackle Verona, Celta Vigo welcome Getafe and Eintracht Frankfurt face Leipzig so some decent games to look at.

I've had a good look at the games and the standout stats-wise is over 2.5 or even 3.5 at Lazio. The last four meetings in Rome have gone 5-2, 2-0, 3-3 and 3-2 but against that is the fact Verona have scored in just one of their last five games although in that one they hit four at Fiorentina.

Also Lazio have a Europa League return at home to Steaua Bucharest on Thursday but they rested some players in last week's 1-0 defeat, including Ciro Immobile, so it looks like the league is their priority. If not sure about this one wait for teams.

Same can be said about RB Leipzig at Eintracht Frankfurt. The Germans recorded a fine 3-1 in at Napoli and will be keen to finish off the Italian job. Eintracht are in fine form with four wins out of five and backing them not to lose at 3-5 with bet365.

With doubts surrounding these two matches I've decided to go for an English both to  score double. Start with Wigan v Man City – again this could be depend on City's line-up but if Rochdale can net two against Spurs then Wigan can score against City.

Add over 2.5 goals at Blackburn v Bury. It's Bury's recent form that suggests this should land although Rovers will be looking to notch a vital win. Bury have picked up with an unbeaten run of four where both have scored in all of them. Five of Blackburn's last six have seen both score including 2-2 at home to Oldham.

Scotland defender Charlie Mulgrew has netted four goals in Blackburn's last four home matches. He has 12 for the season and takes free-kicks and penalties – quite like his chances of hitting the target but 5-2 at Betfred looks a bit stingy as does 7-1 for him to score first.
