MONDAY was a quiet day but there were plenty of winners including Greg with his goals tips on Lommel.

They're his favourite team for now – apart from St Johnstone – and the Belgian reserves came up trumps as usual.

I fancied Napoli at Sampdoria but they were a little short so it was a no-bet day for me.

Tuesday's a bit busier with five FA Cup replays including Liverpool v Shrewsbury and Oxford v Newcastle.

As always team news will be vital for all of the games but we already know Liverpool are fielding their Under-23s with the first team on a break and the line-up will be similar to the one that lost 5-0 at Aston Villa in the EFL Cup.

Liverpool will still have plenty of quality on show while Shrewsbury, with 5000 fans at Anfield, will give it a go again. Best bet here could be goals.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce fielded a full-strength side at home but even then Oxford were the better team. Since then Karl Robinson's side have sold Shandon Baptiste and Tarique Fosu to Brentford while top scorer James Henry is injured as are midfielders Anthony Forde and Ben Woodburn.

Newcastle new loan signings Danny Rose and Valentino Lazaro are ineligible while Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll, Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems are out.

Bruce's boys are shade of odds against and that looks value if he plays his strongest available side.

Derby's home form is superb and they should take care of Northampton at the second attempt. Birmingham v Coventry – between the two St Andrews sides – and Cardiff v Reading, with the sides drawing twice in the past week, could go either way.

Elsewhere there are English non-league games and cup matches in Spain, Germany and Portugal as well as Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 encounters so plenty to look at.

As always cup games can make life difficult but I've picked out a Top Treble starting with Derby.

Philippe Cocu's side have picked up since Wayne Rooney started playing and a Luton defeat apart have been climbing the table.

Rooney's scoring too with two in his last two games and while their match at Northampton was a non-event County looked the real deal in Friday night's 4-0 thrashing of Stoke.

At around 1-2 a Derby win is fine on a treble against a League Two side going well but maybe finding it difficult to take this step up in class.

Add Borussia Dortmund and over 2.5 goals at Werder Bremen in the German Cup. Wonderboy Erling Haaland is expected to start after netting seven goals in first two appearances for the club – two of them as a sub.

If Haaland and England star kid Jadon Sancho start this bet should land easily with Bremen in the relegation zone and Dortmund looking serious title challengers. Dortmund will make a few changes with Emre Can in line for a debut after joining on loan from Juventus.

Haaland hasn't scored first yet and is 14-5 with Betway to do so while Sancho, the first teen to bag 25 goals in the Bundesliga, is 4-1 with bet365.

Dortmund lost on penalties at home to Bremen last season and were held 2-2 in the Bundesliga but have won 19 out of 20 away ties in the cup – the defeat coming at Bayern.

In the three games Haaland has featured Dortmund have netted five each time and their last six matches have totalled 32 goals. Four of Bremen's last six have gone over 2.5 – all defeats.

Complete the treble with both to score in Ligue 1 Lille v Rennes and this is the biggest price of the three. Rennes' last two matches have featured 14 goals including a 5-4 extra-time cup success at Angers.

Six of the past seven meetings have saw both score and three of Lille's last four have gone over 2.5 goals.

The Derby and Dortmund predictions could be wrecked by team selections so bear that in mind and if you don't want the early Lille game in there consider btts at Eintracht Frankfurt v RB Leipzig instead or just do the double at 8-5.

2pts Top Treble

  • Lille v Rennes btts (6pm)
  • Dortmund & over 2.5 match goals (7.30pm)
  • Derby (7.45pm)
  • (4-1, Sky Bet)

    A random non betting question.

I always thought of The Proclaimers as a band with two big hits and little else. Then I heard sunshine on leith the other day and thought it was a wonderful song. So, as a predominantly Scottish fanbase on here, can anyone point me to their best album or other tracks I should listen to.

On a similar note, I don’t think I’ve heard as good an album as Glasvegas’ first album. If anyone has got any recommendations that can rival it, do please pass on.

I’ll end with a bet. England to have the highest first 15 overs score today at 8/11 Vs South Africa is a little bit of value. Worth a point or two

    • mr h 4 years ago

The Proclaimers 👀 anybody actually willing to admit listening to them? Good for a singalong at a family party 😂 If you’re after an alternative Scottish band that are decent try Frightened Rabbit 👍 tragic backstory to the band with the lead singer Scott Hutchison committing suicide at the age of 27 through severe depressive health problems

    • mr h 4 years ago

37 no 27,fat fingers do it again 🤣

If you like The Proclaimers you’ll love The Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
Wet Wet Wet are legends as they had their name on Clydebank jerseys but no Scottish band touches Rush for me.

Have a look at this cup match from Greece today. Olympiakos haven’t lost all season. Have met Lamia 2 times and won both by more than 1 goal. They met less than 2 weeks ago at Lamias where Olympiakos won 4-0! I’m on Olympiakos by more than 1.

Morning lads F.A Cup action tonight and if it’s goals your looking for don’t look at the F.A Cup.I’m taking an unusual bet tonight (for me anyway) and that’s Under 2.5 goals in the following games
    Birmingham v Coventry
    Cardiff v Reading
    Oxford United v Newcastle
This pays 5/1 and is my NAP for tonight.
Same 3 teams all to draw at 38/1 Longshot
    Best of luck

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

Cheers Macca, i think I might go for under 3.5 goals(@2.42 William Hill) just to be more cautious.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Yeah i can’t see it happening (i would hope not anyway) these two don’t usually do business with each other but Liverpool can bring in any player they like.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

He’s definitely hit the ground running.

    • mr h 4 years ago

He’s scored 3 more league goals this season than Newcastles £80m trio of Joelinton,Almiron and Saint-Maximm combined in just 136mins 😂😂😂

    • maccathered 4 years ago

If Leeds United ever go up then Haland will be on his way to them, his dream is to play for Leeds in the Premier League and follow in his dads footsteps, that’s why Man Utd never had a look in.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

I Haaland continues as he’s started Leeds will never be able to afford him – it will be one of the world’s biggest clubs for him next.

    • sasaharv62 4 years ago

Macca, whys that then? As he played more games for Nottm forest & was there longer.

    • Jabba_juice89 4 years ago

And then I want him to confront Roy Keane!

    • maccathered 4 years ago

That’s Haalands dream and that’s the club he supports,i watched his interview he loves Leeds.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Sasa Haaland made 1 more appearance for Forest than he did Leeds, but that was only because his career ending injury.

    • GregBrowning 4 years ago

Macca, appreciate the link he has with Leeds but he’s not going to leave Dortmund any time soon to go and play bottom half EPL

I’m sure one day he will play for Leeds, maybe in 10 years or so but certainly not any time soon

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Obviously not Greg,i never said such a thing, but if Leeds happen to get in the premier league then there is every chance.I very much doubt if Leeds were to get into the prem they would be a bottom half club.

    • GregBrowning 4 years ago

sorry , its just you said if Leeds ever go up (a good chance they might this season) then he will be on his way so you can understand why I’ve said he wont be going leaving Dortmund any time soon.

If and when Leeds do finally get back up be be fascinating to see how they would do – probably the biggest club in England outside the EPL?

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

Dortmund will make some changes tonight but I presume Haaland will start. He’s only started once out of three scoring his seven goals.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

They are a big club and have played champions league football. The problem Leeds had back then was money even Liverpool had the same problem, both clubs had to sell players to stay afloat. Its a lot different know though and if Leeds did go up they would be able to attract better players than the average team that gets promoted. To compare how easier it is for clubs now take Leicester City Arsenal wanted Jamie Vardy, now years ago he would of been off like a shot, but Leicester just doubled his wages, years ago they wouldn’t of been able to do that.Haaland has said he wants to see Leeds back in the premier league so he can play for them and that it his dream to follow in his dads footsteps. He’s a Leed’s supporter through and through and if Leeds do wel that’s where he will end up.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

    Liverpool to Win @ Evens
Been convinced to back the home win here given Liverpool with a much changed young team that wasn’t much stronger than will be fielded tonight beat a very strong Everton in the last round,Game is at Anfield and the youngsters will surely rise to the occasion playing in front of the KOP. Shrewsbury have been in poor form with no wins last 6 aways and just 1 win last 10 they were also defeated at home to the Man City academy in the EFL Trophy back in December. Enough to convince me to take the Evens on Liverpool here, Good Luck.

Apologies for my absence this past few weeks, I’ve been a bit under the weather.

    Derby V Northampton. FA Cup:

After a very limp wristed game away to the lowest ranked side still in the cup in the previous head to head against Northampton, Derby then threw away 3pts away from home when lowly Luton slapped us down 3-2. It looked like Derby had it all to do when Stoke came knocking on our door – and we’d not beaten them in the league for 15 years.
Well, I’m sure you all saw the match. It is the first time I’ve seen Derby dismantle a team this season. It is surprising because Derby going in to that match had almost the best home form in the league. 4 goals later, all of them including Rooneys freekick and the pick of the bunch Bogles 25 yard top corner screamer were worthy goal of the month contenders.

Derby have made 5 changes to the team that beat Stoke. It sounds worse than it is but they’ve actually put out a solid starting 11 and kept the critical players.

Kelle Roos, Curtis Davies, Scott Malone, Graeme Shinnie and Jack Marriott come in for the FA Cup fourth-round replay against League Two side Northampton Town at Pride Park Stadium.

Out go Ben Hamer, Jayden Bogle, Craig Forsyth, Max Bird and Jason Knight.

It looks like a diamond, and having seen how Derby can click at Pride park, I’m very confident that Northamptons cup run will fall apart tonight. I also think Derby will do it with some spare – possibly to nil, but I’d be a bit more confident doing a -1 A/H that I saw yesterday on bet365 @ 7/10.

DERBY COUNTY: Roos; Wisdom, Davies, Clarke, Malone; Holmes, Shinnie, Rooney, Lawrence; Marriott, Martin.
Subs: Ravas (gk), Forsyth, Waghorn, Bogle, Knight, Sibley, Bird.

    Good luck tonight guys.

    • Burton111 4 years ago

Bookies will be toasting var this evening, that Shrewsbury goal been chalked off will of saved them millions, cost me a right few quid anyway did btts in all 5 fa cup games.

    • cptnsnort 4 years ago

So are you saying it wasn’t offside? Or are you conceding that it was offside but pretending that VAR is only at Liverpool matches?

    • Burton111 4 years ago

Var was only at anfield tonight nowhere else.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

That’s right. In the FA Cup it’s only used at Premier League grounds.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

I wasn’t going to reply to this but El gooner are you telling me Liverpool are where they are because of VAR.Mate we are 22 points clear and have 73 points on the board are you silly enogh to say Liverpool are that far ahead because of VAR.Offside is offside by the way.

Canada are more than capable of bringing the goals in by themselves but could also be caught on the counter in a game they are expected to dominate.
