Top Football Tips

MOST eyes will be on Liverpool v Man United on Sunday but I can't be having the home men at the odds.

Bookies are being incredibly tight by making Jurgen Klopp's men massive favourites at about 1-2.

They're the better side and should win but United have a good record against Liverpool and we know Jose Mourinho can dig out results against the big guns.

I posted a preview of the game the other day and maybe Liverpool to win to nil or Mo Salah to score first are the best bets.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also in action and should win while Celtic head to Hibs and Rangers welcome Hamilton. I've previewed the Rangers game, selectabet has done Celtic and other matches are covered.

Saturday wasn't easy with a tricky card and bad weather so well done to all the winners including Desmond who landed his main teams to score 2+ bet and FootyStats with a both to score treble from England.

My Top Treble landed at 14-5 thanks to a late flurry of goals from Raith but I was a Fulham goal short of making a nice profit for the day on the English both to score treble. I decided not to cover when West Ham netted early on.

I was pretty confident about the Super Single as was Greg Browning but St Johnstone never recovered from losing a goal in the second minute and even missed a penalty in their 2-1 defeat to Motherwell.

The stake was returned on the moneyback fivefold after two of my original selections were voided. I replaced them with Aberdeen and unfortunately St Johnstone and while there was no damage done I felt robbed as I was confident about the original bet.

On the VIP tips I had three aways out of four but didn't perm them and it was two draws out of three with the other void.

My Sunday goals treble starts early with over 2.5 at Heerenveen v Utrecht. The last seven on the h2h have gone over 3.5 goals and both sides have seen over 2.5 in four of their last six matches.

Add btts at Fiorentina v Empoli. Five of the last seven meetings have seen both scoring and over 2.5 goals and while Empoli's last six have broought up btts you'd fancy favourites Fiorentina to hit the target at least once.

Complete the treble with both to score at Levante v Barcelona where interestingly over 2.5 goals pays just 1-4. Last season Levante famously won this fixture 5-4 and in three out of four previous Barca netted 4+.

The trend says goals and last week Levante drew 4-4 at Eibar in the early game while Barca have netted 16 in their last six domestic games.

I'm trying another moneyback fivefold with five fairly hot favourites. Not much I need to say about Chelsea and Arsenal at Brighton and Southampton respectively.

Both were involved in Europa League action on Thursday but both were able to field weakened teams so fatigue shouldn't be a concern. Chelsea are a bit short but Arsenal close to evens against a side who need time to get going under new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl who lost his opening game 1-0 at Cardiff last week.

Also taking Celtic and the reasoning is on the preview while Lyon and Benfica complete the nap hand.

Lyon, two defeats in 17, face Monaco, two wins in 19, and should pile the pressure on Thierry Henry's strugglers after reaching the last 16 of the Champions League.

Benfica aren't always reliable but should win at Maritimo. They face a side who haven't netted in four although they've failed to win on their last two visits to the island of Madeira. However, Benfica are on a decent run of three wins to nil and can't afford any more slip-ups as they already trail Porto by seven points but with a game in hand.

Can’t wait to see Maccas response to your opening paragraph Mr F lol. I do agree though they can’t be backed to win at those odds if we are honest they haven’t played that well this season at all they’ve kept it tight at the back though. I don’t see many goals in the game at all under 2.5 goals 11/10 Sky Bet

Not at all acsafc, your right Liverpool have been poor all season, god knows why Liverpool are odds on,can’t fathom it out myself,Man utd have a great record and are playing out their skins, come on bookies tell us why Liverpool are odds on.I mean Salah isn’t at his best despite being top scorer. The stats say Man Utd have a great record so we should back them at 11/2..

      U r funny Mac sir

  5. maccathered 5 years ago

Funny whats funny haha, you have mr f saying that Liverpool are to short at 1/2 to beat Man Utd,then he is tipping Liverpool to win to nil,(SCRATCHING HEAD).then you have acsafc stating Liverpool have been poor this season yet remain the only team to be unbeaten. My opinion is the 1/2 on Liverpool to win is a fair price given the likely out come.

    • sean567 5 years ago

It’s a fair price on reflection of current form, but let’s face it Man U have been a shambles since fergie left and yet Liverpool have only managed 1 win in the last 11 so 1/2 is a bit short in that respect. This season has shown united couldn’t keep weans out a close, so I don’t think boreinho can play for his usual 0-0 so it will be interesting to see what he does

    • boabee8867 5 years ago

great debate guys, but remember, . no matter what happens today, stats don,t perform on the day….no matter your sport or level….

    • acsafc 5 years ago

Macca has gone in deep must be feeling the pressure bit harsh slating Mr F.
You say you don’t win money going by stats but bang on about Liverpool been unbeaten lol
Liverpool have been great defensively with quite a fair share of luck Man City missed pen Mitrovic disallowed goal etc but they have scraped by in a lot of games and not played well at all which you admitted earlier this season

    • acsafc 5 years ago

Oh and Salah is joint top scorer with Aubameyang who has a better goals per minute ratio

    • maccathered 5 years ago

You really are bitter la,don’t know why you are a Sunderland fan and they will never be good enough to lick Liverpool’s trophies. How many has Aubameyang scored in the Champs league haha

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. The price is too short for me – I can’t take Liverpool at 1-2 to beat Man United at home.
It’s never been that short in recent memory. If I don’t think I’m getting value I won’t back it.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

No there’s no value on the straight win thats why i take Liverpool to win on the handicap there’s value there,Man Utd are so big because they have never been so bad.

Now that Chesterfield have decided to start winning and stop their drawing run (theres a chance it may return with next weeks away fixture) I’ve had to start looking for new betting opportunities. For the last couple of weeks I’ve found my best bets in italy. Serie A is one of my favourite leagues to bet on, with in my opinion much better odds on goals with comparison to the premier league

    —————————————————————

    Roma v Genoa
    Serie A 7.30pm

This clash sees two of Serie As prime btts teams facing each other, Roma have seen 46 goals in their 15 fixtures with Genoa seeing 50 in the same amount of fixtures. Genoa have conceded in all 7 aways and have also scored in 6 of them including against Juventus, AC Milan and Lazio. Genoa despite this have only picked up 4 point’s away from home so Roma and btts will have a chance.

    Recommended
    Btts 4/5 sportingbet (NAP)
    Roma and btts 15/8 betway

    —————————————————————

    Sampdoria v Parma
    Serie A 2pm

There must be something in the water recently in Genoa as sampdoria appear to have caught the both teams to score bug from their city neighbours. Samps last 7 games have all gone btts with 6 going overs as well. Parma after a slower start have had their last 4 go both teams to score. Taking this as btts too.

    BTTS 10/11 bet365

    —————————————————————

Fiorentina v Empoli should also have a chance, I’m not particularly keen on backing goals in fiorentina games but they tend to score at home and empoli are a 7 game btts run. The price is a little skinny at 3/4 but as a smaller staked treble with the games above its worth a go.

    Btts Treble 4.65/1 bet365

    Liverpool v Man Utd
Liverpool to win -1 asian handicap at 1.950 (NAP)*****
Liverpool over 3.5 team goals at 5/1 (NB)
    Liverpool to win 4-0 at 22/1 5-0 at 40/1
It’s the biggest clash in English football as Man Utd enter fortress Anfield. Now you would say this game had draw written all over it but i just don’t see that happening here not with all the uncertainty around Man Utd at present. For one Mourihno doesn’t know what eleven will be available for this clash as he is plagued by injuries, also defensive wise Man Utd are a shambles and they simply have not had the proper time to prepare for such a clash.Liverpool come into this game on a high after progressing to the last 16 of the Champions league and boy did they do it in style, they won that game at a canter against a well organised Napoli team, whilst Man Utd were being beaten by a Valencia side that had previously struggled to score goals they netted two as United lost 2-1.Liverpool will have prepared well for this game and they will be at it from the off.Man Utd could try and park the bus but you can only do that if your defence is cohesive and comfortable with one another and this Man Utd team are far from that so for me Man Utd will try and have a go instead. They just are not good enough to attack and defend at the same time where as Liverpool are the kings at it and this is where the game will be won and i fully expect Liverpool to put their chances away today in what should be a comfy home win.
    Best of luck

    • acsafc 5 years ago

Liverpool to win 4-0 or 5-0 hahaha love it. Can you explain the attack and defend at the same time strategy how does that work? Lol

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

As a ”plastic” United fan i actually do agree Liverpool will win today but not by a cricket score, boring moaninho will set us up to do very little attacking as per usual with him and i think it will be a 1-0 or 2-0 win.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

At least we are in agreement with the plastic side of things.

    • newts68 5 years ago

Just remember who knocked you off your perch

    • newts68 5 years ago

I hate us at the moment macca we’re horrible to watch and we’re in a bad place as a club. We’re miles behind City and Liverpool. In fact I’d say we’ll probably finish sixth behind Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal.
However just when ya think Mourinhos on his last chance they turn in a performance and pull a result out.
Just got a sneaky feeling today is going to be one of them days.

    • sean ireland 5 years ago

Yes born and growing up in Manc makes me very plastic doesn’t it unless you feel someone with Irish ancestry shouldn’t be supporting United and should be classed as plastic, be better off planting some spuds in Anfield at least the players would have something to lift each season.

    • alex_mufc83 5 years ago

there’s equally just as many Liverpool fans in Ireland as United fans, so it’s rather hypocritical to call them plastic.

Just wondering but are you not slightly concerned that Milner might be at RB today and Lovren (who we all know is prone to the odd clanger) will partner VVD. ?
I do hope Liverpool win today (can’t stand Mourinho) but he’s not lost a game at Anfield since the Champions League semi of 2007 which worries me.

ANOTHER big day in the SPFL and I’m going to focus on the match at Easter Road as Hibernain entertain Celtic

    Hibernian v Celtic ( KO 12.30)

The visitors probably produced their most clinical display of the season last week as they hammered high flying Kilmarnock 5-1.

The Ayrshire men have since returned to the top of the league so I’d expect Celtic to send out another message to the league that that nobody will challenge their dominance.

Hibs have been really poor for an unacceptable length of time. No wins in 7 but they did finally get back to winning ways last week as they edged it against a stuffy Hamilton side.

This match over the last few seasons has been a goals frenzy – the last 7 meetings have seen 27 goals scored with 6 of those games going 2.5 goals.

Interesting stat as Sean has also pointed out, Hibs have scored 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 games against Celtic which is impressive ( albeit they only won one of those games)

Hibs usually raise their game for a Celtic and despite Hibs hardly firing on all cylinders I fancy them to get on the score sheet today.

That should lead us to goals and the form Celtic are in they could easily land this themselves.

Should be an entertaining game with plenty of goals.

    Recommended Bet

    •Over 2.5 goals
    •41/50 (Marathonbet) (NAP)

    ****************************************************************************
Liverpool v Manchester United (KO 4pm)

Big game of the day in England and its certainly and intriguing match

There is no dispute that Liverpool are a better side this season than United but like Mr F and others I’m extremely surprised the bookies have priced them up as short as 1/2

This gives us great value in backing Man United goals and whilst I don’t expect Man U to win I think its fair to assume they are more than capable of putting in a good performance and getting a goal

Goal time market appeals – we know how poor United are but they still have good players and there is no way they should be 11/2.

Love it when people underestimate Hibernian,
Hibs to score 2 against Celtic was always going to happen and Porteous man of the match was the icing on the cake

Little piece of advice when looking for Bets in the future “just because a team isn’t winning doesn’t mean they are playing bad”

    • drogers 5 years ago

Any bets coming today or for later in the week JB?

    • Johnb 5 years ago

      drogers
No footy tonight but maybe Nfl
There will be midweek bets though, always wary at this time of year tough as the colder weather brings less goals

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

When a team’s not winning you’re waiting for them to turn it round – and hopefully Hibs have.
Lennon and Parker have been threatening clearouts that’s how well they’ve been playing
They did great today though and if they play like that on Wednesday there’s no reason they can’t beat Rangers.
Impressed by Mackie and Mallan and Porteous rightly man of the match.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

I’m advising cover on my goals treble with the first two parts in. No to btts at Levante v Barcelona is big at 17-10 with McBookie.
I’m doing 1.5pts to just about cover the 3pts stake.

    • Johnb 5 years ago

Threatening clearouts was only a ploy to get the players to put more in to the game during a difficult period

Beat 4-2 away to Celtic, we started bad with poor first 25 mins but we were the better team for the next 65 mins
0-0 away to Hearts. It was a Derby and Hearts never let a team play football, we didn’t play that well but we were head and shoulders above Hearts,
Lost 1-0 at home to St Johnston in one of our worst performances of the season,
Lost 1-0 at Aberdeen but we played them off the park like we have in every game against Aberdeen this season,
2-2 against Dundee, we created enough chances to win easy but didn’t take them, still shouldn’t have drawn from 2-0 up but we played well with the chances we created a positive,
Beat 3-0 by Kilmarnock in what was the worst I have seen in five seasons, if it had been 10-0 we couldn’t have complained,
2-2 against St Mirren, conceded a great goal from Adam Hammill, how he is at St Mirren I don’t know as I have seen him plenty of times for Barnsley and he is decent but after we got the equaliser we played well again creating chances but again didn’t take them,
1-0 win against Dundee was a good performance, never looked like dropping points, created a host of chances but again didn’t take them,
Today 2-0 against Celtic, we were by far the better team but again we are missing chances but at least we are creating them and did put a couple away today

      Quick summery
Two really bad performances against Kilmarnock & St Johnstone but every other game we were the better team, created a lot of chances and now we are starting to see the rewards for the way we play football

Hibernian may be in 8th place but we have 3pts more this season than we had last season from the same corresponding games and that’s with so many players out injured

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Let’s see you go now. If you Hibs to score 2 was always going to happen today hwy not tip it?

    • lifebhoy 5 years ago

Mr F, Skybet offering odds of 14/5 for Hibs Win v Rangers on Wednesday night.Surely that can happen. What’s your opinion?

    • recoba 5 years ago

JohnB well done today and with your bet. 👍
Poor from us but really good from yourselves.
Got to say but what you on about the 4-2 game at Parkhead…bad start then the better team for 65 mins??
Watched the full game and use had your moments but we hit the bar and post was it 2x? one was Sinclair missing an open goal at 3-1, and if you check the stats wee were on top in all bar corners by 1 or 2 I’m sure!?

    • 1terrytips 5 years ago

Agree with that 👍. Bad day at the office that’s all so they played well for the previous 6 games before Hamilton ?

    • Johnb 5 years ago

Just commented above but in the whole yes we have apart from the Kilmarnock & St Johnstone games

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

Thats because Killie and St Johnstone were the far better team in those games – nothing to do with Hibs being poor :)

    Afternoon gents,

All roads lead to Bolivia for me as the Clausura comes to a head and I’m focussing on goals as all 14 teams make their final cases for success or safety:

There’s a healthy chance of goals in each match and I’ve picked out 2 bets at bigger prices with smaller stakes:

    BOLIVAR
    THE STRONGEST
    ROYAL PARI
    WILSTERMANN games

    OVER 2.5 MGS 4-FOLD…4/1
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟

    OVER 2.5 MGS 7-FOLD (ALL GAMES)…22/1

Best of luck with all bets 👍

@admin @Mr-fixit , is the match preview submission process changed/amended/improved ?? I’m doing a write-up for tomorrows Derby/Forest game. You wouldn’t believe the stats for and against either side from taking the bragging rights + to throw an extra bit of confusion into the mix, a whole bunch more stats that could easily disprove the positive stats. It’s a minefield. Anyway, a few times this past month I’ve submitted some previews with 2hr before kickoff and somehow they’ve gone straight to file 13 or admin have been too busy. With such a juicy tie, I really need to start wading through these stats and find something concrete to bet on. I’d really like to get it in and posted before 7 or 8pm today.
    Advice please.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Nothing’s changed – if you’re having problems contact admin.
However, there are times when you post and no one can get it on.
Myself and Scott work full-time while admin can’t always be there.
Ideally you file a preview 24 hours before the game or on the morning of the game.
Sending it 2 hours before KO isn’t much good.

    • interyernan 5 years ago

Yeah totally agree…whats more rangers had still only 1 goal for all their efforts!! I think they notched 20 corners themselves with hamilton getting 2 in the last 5mins or so..haha

Some goals stats for games today-
Hibs have scored 2+ in 5 out the last 6 matches against Celtic- but only won once✅
Leipzig have only played Mainz 4 times in their history and every game has seen o2.5mgs✅
The last 18 serie a meetings between Fiorentina and Empoli have seen o1.5mgs✅
Sampdoria have seen btts their last 7 games, Parma their last 4❌
Xamax have seen btts in 15 of their last 16 domestic games- 13 of these saw at least o2.5mgs too✅
Ajax have scored 2+ in 12 of their last 13 league games✅
Arsenal have scored 2+ in every away epl game this season✅

Hope this is of use to anyone looking for a bet today

Hope someone picked something useful out of the stat pack I posted this morning

Not posted this weekend until now, and not done any bets at all due to work , family commitments and enjoying the fact I don’t get the feeling I need to bet every day, only when time permits…..HOWEVER….
…..FINALLY…. I’m still maintaining my old Hearts/Hibs challenge and it’s a weekend like this when one of them comes up trumps against one of the weegies and the goals come up in the other. Never got a chance to post on Friday and have been confined to solitary confinement until now…..
    ———-
    Livingston v Hearts Fri night
    Hibs v Celtic Sunday lunchtime
    ———-
    Hearts win/Hibs>2.5 mgls 4/1 ❌less said about 15 2nd half minutes the better😡
    Hibs win/Hearts>2.5 mgls 14.6/1✅

£5 on each double (Betway) return £73.13
    ———-
After weeks 5-10 dormant ( after 4 weeks ,£40 outlay, £46.91 return) week 11 brings things back into profit, but didn’t think our Friday night 2nd half capitulation would bring the goals in that way….so credit to Hibs for catching an unbelievable flat Celtic and taking advantage. I believe they’re up to world beater status again……😀
    ———-
Noticed the Rangers corner count coming through, is that some sort of record in a senior competitive match?

On goals tips- Exactly what I’m up this month so far macca, 15.75.
20 points up from jan-may, lost the 20 points in may then took 6months away from gambling.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Just interested, you go by stats thats fine for any gambler but i always believe the here and now is better than what happened 6 months ago, people find using stats work i don’t,for example Inter Milan payed Udinese yesterday loads of people backed the overs on the basis the last 6 games had gone overs it finished 1-0 so stats were no good in that game, each to their own no offence intended but they don’t work for me.

    • sean567 5 years ago

That’s true macca, they should be used as a guide only and not gospel, otherwise every bet would be a winner wouldn’t it. What I will say is there’s a phenomenal difference in the amount of winners I get now, compared to when I didn’t do any research.

    • warktheline 5 years ago

It’s finding that fine balance, and most certainly each to there own!

Spal v cheivo. Both rank high for most bookings in serie A.
Bet365 over 5 Asian cards 1.80. money back if 5 cards, winner if 6.
These teams rarely let down for cards.

    Nice injury time winner.

Really disappointed with caligari drawing in the cards with Napoli. Ended 2 a piece. Lost.

Think their is some value in 50 or more booking points levante v Barcelona. Levante playing very well and should test Barcelona. Levante rank high amongst the cards and Barcelona do tend to kick off if match is not going their way. 50 or more booking points 2.10 skybet

Regarding today’s Liverpool game, anyone know any reason why firminio isn’t getting awarded the assist for the 3rd goal? Pretty clear to me 🤔🤔🤔

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Because it took a deflection they will say that the deflection was the assist.

    • sean567 5 years ago

Never saw a deflection from firminio to shaqiri myself

    Levante v Barca

    Lyon v Monaco

These 3 up will hopefully save ma bacon on a shitey wknd on the betting front

£292+ off free fiver, had tae add in a horse that won at 5/4 in USA at Gulfstream. 2 stoppage time corners and card for Genoa so got wee bit lucky there 😂

Made it to Ibrox, im a glass half full kind of guy so pleased to get to top of the league but the performance did not help the hangover! We did win 22-2 on corners though.

Massive two weeks coming up in Scotland, if Rangers can stay within a couple of points of Celtic going into a well needed break and chance to recruit, then i will be pleased.

Arsenal let down the treble and saved the bookies today, to be fair a Southampton result was due under their new manager. Not seen them in action but hearing good things, would expect them to kick on and be safe from relegation.

  105. alex_mufc83 5 years ago

mixed bag a was a Levante goal short of the 11/1 and Saints doing Arsenal over

well done all with a winner

    Tomorrow
    FC Cologne v Magdeburg
Simon Terodde to score./Cologne win @ 8/11 paddypower
Only site that has this price up at the mo but may become available on others tomorrow. Mentioned this guy many moons ago and have noticed hes scored 7 in last 4 making it 24 from 17 games this season.Fully expect Cologne { 2nd in table and top scorers 42/16 } to win comfortably against a side 2nd bottom with only 1 win from 16 and losing 5/7 winning none.
