Top Football Tips
SATURDAY proved more exciting than most with goals galore north and south of the border.
I feel for those let down by QPR for both teams to score in all of the 3pm Championship kick-offs with Sky Bet's offer being 500-1. Those bets come up now and again so keep trying.
Scott and Desmond put up both to score winners while HullShaker also returned to the winner's circle. Well done to everyone who profited.
My main two bets won thanks to Norwich and over 2.5 goals for the Super Single at 21-10 while my Top Treble became a 7-5 double thanks to Sunderland +1 and Edinburgh City. Leeds -1AH was void.
The moneyback fivefold needs Luton to win to return the stake as a free bet after three out of four but my Scots goals bet was one short and the English one wasn't close.
Sunday could be a super one with Chelsea v Man City in the EFL Cup Final preceded by Man United v Liverpool in the Premier League. I like HullShaker's preview and his tips – although my main one will be both to score in a game both clubs will desperately want to win.
In Scotland it's Hamilton v Rangers then Celtic v Motherwell and while you'd expect both halves of the Old Firm to win there is little value in backing them on the WDW market.
I'm reluctant to take Rangers without Alfredo Morelos who completes his ban and best bet could be to go with a penalty awarded or red card. The ref is Bobby Madden who has shown nine reds this season including four in his last four games – one for each side during Aberdeen v Rangers and one for each side when Celtic beat Kilmarnock last weekend.
Every chance of another red here based on stats and more chance of it going to Hamilton so I'm doing a 1pt Super Single on that at 11-2. A Rangers red is 13-2 and both sides to see red is 35-1.
Another 1pt Super Single is on Sergio Aguero to score first for Man City. He hit a hat-trick in the recent 6-0 win and has eight goals in eight meetings with the Blues. The Argentine is the man for the big occasion and has every chance of netting the opener.
For a Top Treble I have to take Luton, unbeaten since October, at home to Coventry. Also confident about Man City winning in 90 minutes and adding Juventus to win at Bologna for the seventh successive time.
I've added a form-based goals treble and a Chelsea v Man City preview.

1pt Super Singles

  • Hamilton red v Rangers (12.15pm)
  • (11-2, Unibet)
  • Aguero to score first (4.30pm)
  • (18-5, Unibet)

2pts Top Treble

  • Luton (12pm)
  • Juventus (2pm)
  • Man City (4.30pm)
  • (31-10, Marathonbet)

2pts Over 2.5 Goals Treble

  • Willem II v AZ (3.45pm)
  • Dortmund v Leverkusen (5pm)
  • Levante v Real Madrid (7.45pm)
  • (22-10, Ladbrokes)

    Boxing: Commonwealth Heavyweight Title

Joe Joyce vs Bermane Stiverne – over 3.5 rounds 6/5 Ladbrokes **NAP** ✅ WON
    —————————————————————————————————–
    Boxing: IBO Super Middleweight Title

Chris Eubank Jr vs James Degale – Chris Eubank Jr win 10/11 Betfair **NB** ✅ WON

Happy with that, good nights work. Poor call by the bookies, Joyce was never going to get him out of there early. His style involes a lot of amateur traits like throwing high volumes of scoring punches instead of more concussive ones.

    Morning lads
    Man Utd v Liverpool
Liverpool to win at 5/4***** (NAP)
    Under 2.5 goals at 1/1
This is a big game make no mistake about that if Liverpool win today then they win the title it’s as simple as that.Bookies have priced Liverpool up as Favourites and rightly so and it’s the first time i have ever seen United as big as 21/10 at home in this fixture but that’s the difference between the two teams, now Man Utd have been in some great form and have played some great football and they have to be respected for that but they did lose when it mattered at home to PSG 0-2 and created very little in the way of chances in that game. This game will go down to who’s the best manager tactical wise and i just cannot see how Man Utd can play their open attacking football,if they do they lose the game before it’s even started.I was impressed by how Man Utd approached the Chelsea game doing the high press and forcing Chelsea into making mistakes and i for one actually hope they start that way against Liverpool as it will leave acres of space for Firmino Salah and Mane to exploit.Liverpool will play a similar game to what PSG did controlling possession and attacking patiently because they know if they wait they will get chances and that is one thing Man Utd do give the opposition, there will be scares for the visitors but i think if Liverpool are at it then they can keep Man Utd out .I certainly don’t expect Liverpool to go gung ho here hence i don’t envisage a goal laden game/correct score 0-2.A red card also appeals in this game.
    Best of luck

If MAN.U. play like they did v PSG. then Liverpool could cause damage if they play the way they can but they failed to break down out of sorts Bayern who have been leaking goals. PSG showed v UTD. they are still a crack outfit even with Cavani/Neymar out.

Liverpool will dismantle ManU today, the only way ManU has a chance is if Liverpool plays cautiously, but if they come out aggressively ManU will self implode.
Sane and Salah to score at least one each, over 3.5 goals.

    Morning Gents!

On Saturday I was rather unlucky with lack of goal in one German match to win full house..
It’s not difficult to guess I suppose which team let me down .So let’s try with an appetizer before main dish…

    4fold :

Perth Glory – ov 1.5 tgs
    Samdoria – win
    Luton – Win
    Rangers- 2/ov 1.5 mgs

    Now a little system play:

    Adelaide – BTTS
    Perth – ov 1.5 tgs

    Sampdoria – win
    Magdeburd- ov 2.5 mgs

    Luton – ov 1.5 mgs
    Rangers -ov 1.5 mgs

    3 * 4folds and ACCA

At the and the most difficult play ‘Rainbow goals’ some bookies call these bets like this..

    Benfica B – (2-3) goals
    Sampdoria – (2-3) goals
    Luton -(2-3) goals

    Kaiserslautern – (2-3) goals
    Regensburg – ( 2-3) goals
    Wehen – ( 2-3) goals

2 trebles and ACCA at 64/1…These are statistical bets..Okay all of the with solid percentage but in football
you never know.red card or anything else and all pyramid is gone..but let me be lucky…

    Let’s beat the bookies!!!!

First of all I’m struggling to pick a winner – so well done anyone who can. To say the title’s over if Liverpool win today is in my opinion crazy.
They’ll be 3pts clear with 11 games to go and so much can happen in that time. People have branded you a deluded Liverpool fan and you’ll probably agree with that. As a neutral it looks like the race could go the wire which would be great.

Amazing to think that it was only a couple of weeks ago when you conceded the title to City . Make your mind up lad. You’re asking where Uniteds goals will come from if Martial and Lingard aren’t playing. Pogba and Rashford have been fairly impressive in front of goal lately. Like most people I think the game is really too close to call but I do think there will be goals.

Macca no two games are the same. Stop thinking if Psg could beat united so liverpool can do same. The loss of Cavani and Neymar forced Psg to compromise tactics for that game. They had about 5 midfielders and Mbappe as the lone forward and mind you United must have a learnt alot from that game.

This is simply a must bet, aberdeen at 11/8 i can see them winning by 2 or 3 here, st johnstone just cant score at the moment and with aberdeens brilliant away form.
I will take aberdeen to win on the handicapp -1 for smaller stakes aa well as shinnie anytime goal scorer as well as a big bet on the aberdeen win. Add bury for a double too.

A bet I really fancy today is Villareal to score @1.83

Okay they are away to a notoriously strong home side, who brushed Juve aside on Wednesday. But this is where I feel the value lies as the will hopefully be a bit leggy with not the biggest squad in terms of quality.

Villareal are starting to pick up after a disaster of a season. Beating Sporting in the European league and add the fact they are fighting for their life’s in the relegation battle.

Add to the fact that they have managed a goal in the last 4 meetings.

All points me to a Villareal goal @1.83

Best of luck today as always.

    City Win & > 1.5TGS Evens – Main Bet – Double Stake
Emmen v Vitesse BTTS & Overs 20/21 – half stake
Ashley Young Booked 2/1 – small stake
Aguero / Sterling ATGS 4/1 – small stake
Put the City bet up straight after the 6-0 drubbing. Ok this is a Cup Final and not at the Etihad but I think Sarri is stubborn and will continue to play the same way and leave gaps that City will exploit as he drags on his ciggie butt.
In Holland neither Emmen or Vitesse can keep a CS – all 10 league games for the sides since the break have seen overs with 9/10 BTTS & Overs. 1-1 in December in the reverse fixture and I will take the extra goal today

Yesterday started off brightly but fizzled out in disappointing fashion. There are two games I like for BTTS today… I considered doing two singles and a double, but the prices aren’t quite big enough to warrant that. You’d still need both to come in to see profit, so it’s the straight double.

Any folk wanting a ‘livener’ before the real games begin could do worse than look at this Icelandic Cup bet – I reckon the bookies have priced this one in the dark:

    KÁRI VS. TINDASTÓLL (12.00pm):

Two of the lower leagues highest scoring teams with 3-7-7-5 mgs in the last 4 H2H’s since February 2017 and large current goal counts to boot.

Yes, they have eliminated most markets (no betbuilder total goals) and have full time asians needing 5 goals for a profit BUT they have potentially left the door wide open for first half goals…I’ll take it:

    Over 1.5 FHGL (9/10, bet365) 2 Points

    😉

    Man Utd v Liverpool

Can’t make my mind up on this one but one area that might be value is cards.
The last 5 meetings have gone under 50pts and with Liverpool just picking up 24 yellows so far this season and refs tending to try to keep these type of games calm by not issuing cards unless absolutely necessary I think 5/6 with pp on under 50pts looks value today.

Really Pathetic showing from the two English 2pm matches. With 5 goals at Rangers and Celtic already 2 at half time should be waiting for the Man City game for a goal or two max

Instead needing 7 goals from city game and the second half at Celtic 🙈

Hopefully the big guns in the other total goals bet have their shooting boots on.

    • Avatar of Sean Campbell
      sean567 6 years ago

Absolutely Greg. For arsenal to go 2-0 up early then there be no more goals plus none at OT is majorly disappointing. As well as your 18+ I backed the 20+ at 15/8. Not a hope unless Celtic and Man City run riot

to andymac1980, duncanferguson and anyone else on Stockport bet yesterday.. apologies with the disappointing 1-1 draw.

Yes it was a cup game but County have proven they’re taking it seriously, and I expected a narrow home win. I had a few County mates at the game who aid they were the better side and really should’ve sealed victory. so it’s a replay in Kent this Tuesday. As it’s not at home I’m less confident so will avoid but I wouldn’t be surprised Jim Gannon puts a rocket up them and they get a result.

Will be sticking to the next league game v Spennymore on Saturday – again at home. Should be back to normal business.

Alex I’ve followed your tips and they’ve come up trumps a few times for me, no need to apologise.my point on it being a cup game is just one of my key pointers is to stay away from cup games unless I’ve heard some solid info such a team resting numerous players. The city game today was a no bet for me as it was a cup match and the closer it gets to the final whistle the more settled for extra time a team becomes whereas if its a league game they’ll push for the winner

Some great games tonight and the Asuncion derby in Paraguay, River Plate (Argentina), Palestino (Chile) and Carmelita (Costa Rica) all look to feature on the shortlist in what is a feast or riches in South America.

But, although I’ll be rolling some of these up, my main pick sees me stopping over in Bolivia once again after last night’s goal-fest – credit Richard who has already mentioned this one!

    BOLIVAR VS. ROYAL PARI (8.00PM):

No time for a full write-up but whilst everyone will (quite understandably) be piling into Bolivar goals, I think the best ‘value’ sits in Pari’s court; their start has been shaky but they still have a decent squad who travel well – itself a rarity n Bolivia!

In all my years of following this rollercoaster league, it was the previous H2H between these two back in October that stands out more than any other scoreline as Bolivar ran out winners by a 2 goal margin in a 7-5 cracker!

Since then, Pari I think have failed just once in 11 away games to find the net and with the focus on Bolivar, that back door is firmly ajar once again:

    BTTS (10/11, bet365) 4 Points

    and for the braver punter…

    BTTS BOTH HALVES (14/1, bet365) 1 Point

    ****************************************

As mentioned, there’s so many great games on so I’ve put together a South American goals acca:

    CARMELITA (7.30)
    RIVER PLATE (8.10)
    BOLIVAR (8.00)
    PALESTINO (8.30)
    LIBERTAD (9.45)

    OVER 2.5 MGS 5-FOLD (16/1, bet365) 1 Point

    Best of luck 👍

Macca, what’s your thoughts on Klopp handshakes/high fives with the Utd players pre-game and the rest? I can’t understand that in what’s meant to be such a feisty derby. Is that just a reflection of the EPL these days? If it was my team/manager I would not be happy.

How did var get it wrong,it was the right decision, even though his feet were level his head was behind which means offside, any part of the body that you can score with has to be level including the head.

    • Avatar of Andy McPhail
      andymac1980 6 years ago

Macca – the defenders foot is level with the rest of Aguero’s body so he’s level also. Bad call for me!

Never posted i know, it was an interest bet for the game, Fernandinho, Otamendi and Jorginho to be carded 28/1.

Late cards from Jorginho and Otamendi brings it in.

Goals goals goals today. Get some tips up later, but first a league cup final tip I’ve had my eye on since the league game a few weeks ago- and it landed midweek as it has on several occasions this season.

Aguero to score/ Fernandinho to be carded
9/2 bet 365 (bet builder tab)

    Add Jorginho- 14/1

Robbed on both bets by incompetent officials. Compounds a poor day. Fuming

    Hearts v Celtic – Naismith
    Madrid v Barca – Ramos / Casemiro / Pique / Busquests / Vidal

Hopefully decent prices for singles in the Scottish games, El Clasico will need to be some multiples as will be short prices.

Big thanks to Napoli and the Dortmund match for keeping my 20+ Goals line alive ( 4-0 & 3-2)

9 goals in those two games helps make up the shortfall of zero goals in another brutal English match

    Levante v Real Madrid
