Top Football Tips

IN the end it was fairly easy for Man City but for a minute or so Liverpool must have believed in miracles.

When Brighton took the lead against the champions another big story was developing but that goal sparked City into life and from the minute Sergio Aguero equalised there was only going to be one winner.

So City stay on course for the Treble that should be sealed on Saturday in the FA Cup Final and valiant runners-up Liverpool will focus on their Champions League Final.

It would be shame for them to end with nothing after such a great season but Spurs fans won't agree with that.

I had a poor weekend and it's been a disappointing start to the month after a brilliant April. Still time to turn it around though.

Well done to all the winners yesterday and there were of course plenty of results that went against form.

Not too much to look at tonight but we have St Mirren v Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership with Saints needing a win to have a chance of avoiding the relegation play-off against Inverness or Dundee United.

Forest Green start 1-0 down at home Tranmere in the League 2 play-offs and every chance of them at least forcing extra time.

In Italy it's Inter v Chievo and Bologna v Parma. An Inter win will edge them closer to a Champions League spot while both Bologna and Parma needs points to be safe.

Greg's posted a good one on Estonia and Scott has a members bet but not too much stand out so I'm going for a 1pt long shot – so beware of that and its chances of winning are one in 10.

I'm going for what looks the obvious draw at St Mirren as Hamilton will squeeze the life out the game and try to get the stalemate they need. Forest Green beat Tranmere at home in the regular season and should at least win the game and I'm backing Inter -1 – they've netted eight in two home games v Chievo and the relegated side have conceded 16 in five.

Well done man city but spare a thought for poor old fort William in the Highland league.
    Played 34.
    Won 0 drawn 2 lost 32.
Total points -7 due to a 9 point deduction.
    Scored 21 conceded 245.

At least They finished the season on a high with their best performance this calendar year, a 5-1 home defeat to wick

Next season they will be adopted as my 2nd team, in these times of money madness I think we should all spare a moment for these teams who carry on in face of adversity.

Must have got 2 draws though – from the start I wondered if they would get into plus points.
Went up there once for a Clydebank pre-season friendly and yes we did win.
Must be the most scenic ground in the UK though with Ben Nevis towering above it.

I’m from the Fort and many years ago we made it to the Scottish Cup 3rd round as I recall and drew 0-0 with Stirling Albion. Been downhill ever since. To be fair it’s a shinty town. My uncle Ed Hunter played for them many years ago when they were decent. Think he also played alongside Kenny Dalglish as a youngster for Cumbernauld United. Been a sad decline and many managers have tried to turn it around with no success.

I won over the W/E but it should have been big. Said all week i was going to thump Rangers heavy including the h’cap. The game was a repeat of the Dec game as i thought it would be and when Celtic left Forrest and Tierney out it was an invitation to buy money. Never mind won something.Liverpool must be sick not winning the league after losing only one game. Then they will look at the fact they were almost out the CL and could now win it.What about Spurs too a great season for them already in the CL next seaon and could be in it as Kings of Europe.

Meaningless game and both players carrying knocks so being rested for the cup final and the treble treble.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Any team that wants to win the Premier League now are going to need 100 points,It’s sure as hell going to be the same two competing next season.Third place was a massive 25 points behind Liverpool and 26 behind Man City,Man Utd were 31 points behind Liverpool, all these teams have a lot of catching up to do and aren’t going to do it in one summer, for me same again next season same two competing.Ole Gunner Solksjaer should not have been given a 3 year contract until the end of the season, big mistake by Man Utd’s board. The results when he came in were great but that was down to the new manager syndrome, how does a manager who has managed Molde and Cardiff city attract the worlds best players add to that Europa League football next season, you can bet your bottom dollar they are feeding off scraps as the the big top four sides buy the best players.

    • cockerspaniel 5 years ago

They must have pulled it mate I put it on his morning it was 60/1 and 7/2 for 1 red card
It is usually under corners and cards . I just checked and they are only doing corners.
I would check before KO as sometimes they put it back up again .

know matter what compitition united are in they will always attract top class players ,thats fact ,united might have been 31 points behind liverpool, but pool still didn’t win the title again ,whats that 30 years now .rest my case.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Haha if my team finished 31 points behind second place then i would be worried as hell.If Liverpool win the Champions League then that more than makes up for not winning the EPL title.I would be more than happy with that.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

De ligt has already said he doesn’t want to sign for Man Utd mate so ho can that be attracting the top players.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Top players don’t sign for Europa League football.

Mac im sure top class players would rather join cardiff than the team from lancs road after all there did win 0-2.but with Ole at the wheel i think its a relegation fight for them

    • maccathered 5 years ago

😂😂😂 I can’t see many top players wanting to play for them lot to be fair, not when you have City and Liverpool playing the brand of football they are doing. Also Bayern Munich are rebuilding add to that Madrid are also rebuilding,i’m afraid all these clubs are a far more attractive prospect than Man Utd and you have to remember these clubs can more than match United in terms of money.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Players don’t have your morals – pay them a fortune and they’ll go.
United won’t have a problem attracting top players.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

United will have a problem attracting top players, thats one reason they are in the mess they are in.Angel Di Maria was there for one season, that says a lot.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

We’ll see who they get. United still a big draw in world football and the third richest.
At least anyone coming in can try to improve the team – difficult to do that at Man City.

  24. abdntips 5 years ago

I agree with you to an extent, given the choice I’m sure the very top players would rather go to Madrid, City, Liverpool and perhaps PSG at this point in time.

For the time being United just need to buy better players than are there already, which let’s face it shouldn’t be too difficult. Having the right manager/set up is crucial and I don’t think Ole is the answer and for that reason some players will be reluctant to go given there’s every chance he could be gone by Xmas.

  25. abdntips 5 years ago

As for the Champions League making up for not winning the league I have to disagree. Given it’s been 30 years, I’m sure if you offered every fan tat Anfield yesterday the league or the champions league every one would have the league first.

Of course they’ll all be over the moon if they beat Spurs but no doubts about it, the league was first choice

European players don’t play for the money rather they play for the glory and something they can boast of after retirement…. United are in shamble just like Liverpool were many years back until klopp came…… Ole is not the answer to United’s woes…… The question is, who is the right coach out there to take united back to where they were? Absolutely no other person than Arsene Wenger…. He has the exposure, class, charisma and what have you…. All you need do, hand him the money and see where your club will be in the nearest future….. I love his style of coaching, his philosophy suites United’s hierarchy….. Though things went bad for him at arsenal due to lack of funds to sign quality players………

Regards the West Brom – Villa game:
I put this bet on with bet365 in the reverse fixture and it landed:
    Villa win and btts YES
    Over 4.5 cards
    Over 12 corners

It was 23/1+ when it came in, and I have few doubts that it will fail again. sadly the prices have come down a tad since and they’re now paying just over 21/1 for this to come in.
