BURNLEY'S scrambled win at Cardiff meant I finished the month on a high and 58 points up on the top tips.

The Super Singles have been on a good run and Burnley gave me a 21.7pts profit over the past eight days.

My two accas were losers yesterday but I finished 36.3pts up thanks mainly to two moneyback fivefolds. The members bet won though at 12-5 for a second 5pts profit in two days and the Super Single on the Ryder Cup won as Jon Rahm beat Tiger Woods as Europe completed a remarkably easy victory.

Hopefully October will produce more of the same but we have an international break and I'll also be on holiday for a week from Sunday so Scott Allot will be taking over for a spell.

Well done to all the winners last night and good luck on Monday. Not too much on Monday but we have Bournemouth v Crystal Palace, Sampdoria v SPAL, Celta Vigo v Getafe and Utrecht v MVV.

Probably see goals at Bournemouth, Samo should win and again could be both to score at Celta Vigo.

There are also some lower-league matches to consider and I've decided to focus on Tuesday's games and go without a bet tonight so have a look at what Greg or HullShaker have posted.

Remember to have a look at WeLoveBetting for their tips and video chat.

I am back for a fleeting appearance to repost my antepost football selections and reasoning as we are now two months into the season

I have been looking for the best bets for the 2018-19 football season north and south of the border

Starting south of the border and League 2 i have to pick MANSFIELD,
I never pay much attention to pre-season friendlies but Mansfield have looked good, a 1-0 loss to Vitoria Setubal was followed by 3-0 win at Bradford PA, 3-1 win against Derby County, 0-0 draw against Sheffield Utd, 2-1 win against Sheffield Wed and 2-1 win against Rotherham Utd
Mansfield Town were one of the favourites last season and finished seventh, they lost their manager and after a difficult start for the new manager David Flitcroft Mansfield finished the season strongly,
Against Rotherham I was really impressed with the defending of Mansfield, the back three and goalkeeper “a certain Conrad Logan” were outstanding and going forward Mansfield will be looking at Danny Rose to bag a few goals

In League One I am going for my home town Barnsley, with Sunderland and Charlton also there it won’t be easy but I think Barnsley will get promoted, they have been pretty quiet in the transfer market and I think they will be disappointed not to have persuaded Stevie Mallan to stay on, I am hoping Tom Bradshaw stays at the club for this season as he will score goals, during pre-season Barnsley have been quick out the blocks at the start and against Hull they scored after just two minutes and it was new signing Kenny Dougall that scored a 20 yarder, Dougall signed from Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam and is a defensive midfielder but can also play as a central defender but it’s keeping players that is vital to Barnsley with multiple bids coming in for forwards Kieffer Moore and Tom Bradshaw and midfielder Brad Potts

Heading north of the border my Scottish bets,
In the Championship I like an outsider to do well, I really like Ayr Utd, my only worry is they have a small squad so injuries could be their downfall but if they can keep the injuries down they look a serious threat and they also have a player I have been raving about for a while in Lawrence Shankland and it’s vital that Ayr keep him

    League 2
Mansfield Town to get promoted 9/4 various (NOW AS LOW AS 1/1)

    League One
Barnsley to get promoted 11/4 various (NOW AS LOW AS 2/5)

    Scottish Championship
Ayr Utd 50/1 boylesports (1/5 odds 3 places)
    (NOW AS LOW AS 13/2)

Also mentioned Danny Rose to score the goals for Mansfield but he wasn’t really getting any game time, he has only played the full 90 in the last two league games and scored in both of them with a double on Saturday

Mentioned that it was vital that Barnsley kept their players during the transfer window especially forwards Tom Bradshaw and Kieffer Moore and midfielder Brad Potts
Bradshaw moved to Millwall on loan but Moore has scored 7 goals in 10 games and Potts has scored 2 goals in 6 games

As for Ayr they managed to keep Lawrence Shankland and he has rewarded Ayr with 8 goals in 7 games

I am also wondering if I will get the same comments that I got previously when I dared to say that Celtic were in decline 😱

Oh and I also said Hibernian for the league

Plenty of paydays coming at the end of the season

    • recoba 8 months ago

No not now John after the sale of Armstrong and Dembele with not much brought in..need to argue the the Hibs for the league but best of luck with 2nd but. 👍
Are you still dishing out racing tips John? Were can I fund them and how’s Johnb racing going? Any chance of a fleeting visit to the racing thread today? Cheers.

    • Johnb 8 months ago

@recoba don’t do Racing anymore “no time” sold all of our 76 horses, we now work for an overseas broadcaster where we work on football/soccer and American football mainly and as analysts & advisers for several football teams “just the one in the Uk though which is an English Championship team”

    • Mr Fixit 8 months ago

Cheers, how are you getting on?
Bookies are worried about Ayr but as you say depends whether they keep Shankland in January and they have a small squad.
Dundee Utd might get going now Laszlo has left and it looks like Robbie Neilson’s the man they want.

    • Johnb 8 months ago

@mrfixitstips yeah going well thanks, Shankland should stay for the season now unless Ayr get offered a decent amount but he can signed on a free in January

Has Oor @gregbrowning any thoughts on the Scottish reserve Edinburgh derby today. Hibs are usually good for goals.
3.5 goals in play will probably be about EVS.

    • GregBrowning 8 months ago

Hi mate – I had a look at it and there’s every chance there will be goals, the only thing that put me off was that Hearts are decent and they may cancel each other out

Knowing this league though they probably won’t

AFTER relegation from Ligue 1, Troyes look like they are finally starting to find their feet and look massively overpriced to win at home

    Troyes v Auxerre (7.45pm)

It’s been a rude awakening or this Troyes side as they have really struggled to adapt to life in Ligue 2. After an opening day win, they went on a run of 5 straight league defeats. You could argue they played some teams on top of their game in that winless run but since the international break, they beat a good Niort side and claimed a creditable 1-1 away at Le-Havre so I’m really surprised to see them priced up as big as 17/10, especially against a struggling side like Auxerre

The visitors are on the same number of points as Troyes but there couldn’t be a bigger contrast in form – no win in 4 league games (3 defeats and a draw) and no goals scored. There’s no way Troyes should be 17/10 to win this against a side who are clearly in a bad place at the moment, losing matches and zero threat going forward

Taking Troyes to continue their revival by making home advantage count

    Recommended Bet

    Troyes to beat Auxerre
    17/10 (BetVictor) (NAP)

English Development League U23 (KO 7pm)

There are 6 matches tonight kicking off at 7pm and skybet for the first time have offered these games in their specials. Its only offering 5 games (excluding the Arsenal game) but having looked at the them at least 3 of them look like they could easily go over 3.5 goals.

They are offering 17+ goals at 10/11 which I think is worth taking. These games aren’t too dissimilar to the Scottish reserve matches in that lots of games have 4+ goals in them

    Recommended Bet

English Development league – 17+ goals to be scored
    10/11 (Skybet)

    • kf 8 months ago

Hi @gregbrowning…just out of interest, which of the three do you imagine might go over 3.5mgs?…I think th 10/11 for 17+ is pretty decent. Good luck

Well done for Sept Mr F – cracking month

You’ll be looking forward to your holiday ⛳️🍺

  12. leroy 8 months ago

    Cracking September, Mr F.

Nothing for me tonight as instead I launch an ambitious (and admittedly risky) assault on the Tuesday and Wednesday card. Couple of shorter priced selections in the mix here that I’d usually be hesitant to post, but I’m going with my gut in an attempt to start October on the front foot. That means 4 full stake efforts across the two days, and with a lot of eggs in the same baskets, it basically equates to ‘bigger’ stakes.

Hopefully it’s not misplaced confidence, but I think a lot will like these games for goals – and some of these prices might shorten a little (taken early Sunday evening).

    Morning gents,

The gamble never paid off in Bolivia last night as Oriente failed to peg back Bolivar – apologies to anyone on.

Looking ahead to tonight and I’m sticking to the EPL and agree with others about the potential for goals; The Cherries are never far away from the action and play a great brand of offensive football whilst Palace are seemingly saving their best for games on the road.

Plenty of previous between the two with 4 goals in each of the last 2 H2H’s so it’s goals for me:

    OVER 3.5 MGS…2/1

    Best of luck 👍

    • HullShaker 8 months ago

Another game that may well be worth a look for goals – Basford are on fire at the moment particularly at home and the fact that 100% of their last 7 consecutive H2Hs have all seen 4 or more goals is a rare statistic in the UK and makes it look even more appealing:

      OVER 3.5 MGS…31/20

      OVER 4.5 MGS…29/10

    Afternoon all

    Scottish Reserve league
Hibs v Hearts (indoor at Oriam sports complex)

As Greg B has posted on a number of occasions, most games in this league ( following on from the U21 development league from previous seasons) have goals in them; 4 and 5-1s as well as 2-2s, 3-2s occur fairly regular, and now the teams draw on experienced squad players that are on fringes of first teams as well as youth.

Both Hearts and Hibs are around mid tablish but have only played 3 matches ; Hibs 7th and Hearts 13th out of 18. Both teams are averaging just over 4 match goals when involved.

Hearts team announced have 6 with first team experience (No Sean Clare yet) but even without having seen the Hibs team I expect goals, and Hearts have dropped from 13/8 to 4/6.

Doubling up with Hulls tip on Goals at Basford v Whitby tonight.

Hearts win and over 2.5 mgls 23/20
Basford match goals over 2.5 2/5

    3/1 double

    Reduced stake

Hearts to win and over 3.5 mgls 11/5.

    1.30 KO I think

    • GregBrowning 8 months ago

0-2 Hearts right after half time mate – looking good 👍🏼

    • the stamp collector 8 months ago

0-2 final score❌ Gutted a bit as Hearts with vastly experienced side didn’t really show up for first 40 mins apparently. First use of width led to free kick and goal. Scored again after halftime and upped tempo a few notches, and passed up numerous chances I’m led to believe; Hibs goal led a very charmed life..on another day would have landed, possibly both recommended. Apologies if anyone followed.

    Champions league tips for tomorrow
    Juventus v Young Boys
Juventus to win -2 asian handicap at 1.870***** now 1.750 will be around 1.500 come kick off so will recommend -2.5 asian handicap for anyone interested.Correct score 5-0

    Hoffenheim v Man City
    Over 3.5 goals at 1/1*****
    Over 4.5 goals 12/5***
    Over 5.5 goals 9/2**

    CSKA Moscow v Real Madrid
Real Madrid to win at 3/5*****

    Lyon v Shaktar Donetsk
    Over 2.5 goals at 4/6*****
    Over 3.5 goals at 7/4****

    Man Utd v Valencia
    Valencia double chance at 6/5*****
I think everyone has seen Man Utd perform the last few games and to say there is a crisis at the club is putting it mildly.I was watching sky sports this morning and they gave one specific stat that is startling for a supposedly top club,Man Utd players have ran the second least amount of Kilometres in the Premier league, only Cardiff City have ran less and they sit bottom,Liverpool ran the most and sit top so that stat in itself should tell you where United are at right now(in trouble). They now face a well organised Valencia side who aren’t sitting pretty in their domestic league but have still only lost one game and drew the other 5,i expect a tight game and if things haven’t changed for United might even take the away side to win inplay.

    Aek Athens v Benfica
    Red Card/Penalty

    Best of luck

Little bit of an early tip for Saturday my team Chesterfield are winless in 11 and have scored just 3 goals in the last 9. The whole club is in turmoil yet Saturday we are priced as favourites against Fylde one of the divisions generally better sides in 7th place

I was going to do a bigger write-up but, this article sums up our situation pretty well

Fylde are 13/8 that price has been backed in from 19/10 but its still worth backing

Putting this one up now as not around tomorrow until late – it’s the first time I’ve backed my boys this campaign and could be some value in following The Shakers as they head South…

In a matter of weeks we’ve gone from looking down the barrel of a geunuinely potential drop out of the football league to a foot in the early season playoff places – a fickle beast is this football!

Somethings begun to gel at Gigg and the results and run of form spell out more than just a fluke set of data; we’ve hit 2-0-2-4-1-3-2-2 team goals in the last successive 8 matches with an impressive 2-1-2-2 team goals on the road during the same spell.

New signing and former top-flight player Nicky Maynard has completed his move and can only bolster the attacking line up as we take on a Northampton outfit who have been hit with 4, 0, 2 and 3 goals in their own last 4 by Mansfield, Notts County, Port Vale and Cheltenham respectively…noticeably all teams who are in pretty poor positions themselves!

Also worth noting is the H2H profile; of the 9 most recent match-ups stretching back over a 7 season spell, Bury have only failed to score once with an uncharacteristically good record of 3-0-3-2-2-3-3-1-4 team goals against The Cobblers who have sacked gaffer Dean Austin just hours ago.

Never pays to be too confident when backing your own team – especially if you happen to be a Bury fan – but I reckon it’ll be black puddings all round for this one:

    BURY GOAL BEFORE 53:00…5/6

    BURY OVER 1.5 TGS…11/8

    BURY OVER 2.5 TGS…9/2

    Best of luck 👍

Could be a concern that Northampton have appointed Keith Curle as Manager..Did a no bad job at Carlisle.

@greg browning. Well done tonight Greg. Took Troyes tonight for a single on your recommendation. Your were right about the price. Certainly was a big price.

Cheers fella – they actually drifted out to 2/1 just before KO, always good when the bookies get it wrong – well done 👍🏼
