Top Football Tips

IT'S possibly the toughest card of the season this weekend – it's certainly the most difficult of the year!

FA Cup ties dominate the coupon and it's all about team news and we know there will be some shocks.

I've said it before and elsewhere – if you can wait to see line-ups before betting on the cup clashes. Also be aware there are seven 12.30pm kick-offs … games at Bournemouth, Burnley, Man United, Sheff Wed, Shrewsbury, West Ham and West Brom.

No Premier League, Championship or Scottish Premiership games make it a bit of a minefield so low stakes is the way to go.

I've posted Scottish and English previews and most of my tips are reasoned there.

Last night a lack of goals at Morton beat my double. Watched the game and it was so poor I turned over to take in the Super Sixes from Glasgow. Poor result for Ross County and even when I turned over for the last 10 minutes or so they didn't look like scoring.

Well done to all the winners including HullShaker with his cracking goals bets from Wales.

Remember to look at welovebetting for their tips and video chat.

    Morning gents,

I’m splitting my time between the English Lower Leagues and Iceland today and, as ever, goals are the way to go although there is a genuine Scandinavian Jorvik link between all…

    CURZON ASHTON VS. YORK CITY:

‘Nash haven’t kept a clean sheet at home this season and you’ll have to go back 14 matches in Tameside to see a game where Cameron Mason hasn’t had to pick the ball out of his net but in true style, they continue to be a team that are great to follow for goals in general.

The hosts have conceded at least 2 in their last 4 home games; 4 against (struggling) local rivals Ashton and nearby Stockport who may just be eyeing a road back into league football proper.

York have scored in 7 of their last 8 and hit Darlo for 4 last time out – if you add into the mix the fact that each of the last 5 H2H’s within a 40 month spell have seen both scoring, it’s a great candidate for bet of the day.

I’ve just listened to an interview with York gaffer Sam Collins and it’s a very levelled approach to a period of time that will see some players go (that need to go) and new arrivals land as they continue to build up a campaign that will see them in the mix come the end of the season.

Three selections worth a look and I’ve got to say, York goals look a very big price here:

    OVER 1.5 YORK GOALS…11/8
    (Bet365)
    🌟🌟🌟🌟

    OVER 2.5 YORK GOALS…4/1
    (Bet365)

Icelandic Cup action and given the teams facing each other, I’d be surprised if there isn’t a few goals in all 3 games as the Nordic pre-season cup games kick into gear:

    OVER 2.5 MGS TREBLE…1.27/1

With most teams at the good or bad end of their respective leagues, this 3rd round FA cup is a rude interruption for most teams. Without looking too hard, the likely suspects of Chelsea/Man Utd/Arsenal should still be in this competition and I doubt any team will really take the competition seriously until the quarter/semi finals. A few of the big hitters with little prospect of more serious silverware might prioritise this tournament, but from the perspective of everybody else that has next to no chance of winning it, it only serves as a hindrance.
I know my own team are expected to have the customary wobble that occurs around February, but of late, Derby’s results in the 2nd half of the season have actually been improving year on in.
I’ll be steering clear of Derby v Southampton though. We do have a good record against them, Southampton are on the verge of a relegation scrap, and Derby want to stay in the mix in the top 6 of the championship.
What we don’t want is a replay. Ideally we don’t want to be a part of the next round but nobody is allowed to throw a game in a tournament we have no hopes of winning. I’d rather rest and rotate.

    Good luck guys.

    🌟Shortee’s 3pm NAP 🌟

Hoping to follow on from my New Years nap and a Hard day of fixtures ahead tomorrow and I urge caution as usual.
This weekend is FA CUP and as always is a weekend for lower stakes and I’ve done a small 2.5 treble also. Nothing major.

My nap tomorrow is Ebbsfleet away to Chesterfield.

Ebbsfleet are on a great run recently and sit top of the form standings in the league with 12 points collected in last 5 games and 12 scored and 4 conceded.

Their last 3 games have seen them score 11 goals with 4,3,4 team goals in those games and 2 of them to NIL. They face a chesterfield side who have only collected 5 points in 5 games and only scored 6 and conceded 10

Overall ebbsfleet have the better strikers with a total of 40 goals scored in 28 games compared to 24 goals in 27 games for chesterfield which is less than 1 a game and total 34 conceded. Going for real value here tbh and its above my usual nap odds and I will take the risk.

On all the above im happy to take the following as my nap:

    🔹Ebbsfleet to win @ 9/5
    🔸3pm kick off National League

    ▪️£50 pays £140

    ⚽️2.5 goals treble⚽️

    ▪️Acc Stanley v Ipswich
    ▪️Fleetwood v Wimbledon
    ▪️Derby v Southampton

    📊 7/1 various

    £10 on just

Goodluck all for the weekend ahead 👍

Don’t get drawn in too what seems like a very lucrative price on Burnley today, a lot of familiar faces will play due to lack of squad depth. There is little to no incentive to fight for a win today, I remember very well a couple of seasons ago we were priced up in FA Cup around 1/2 against Lincoln at home in what a few individuals thought was a steal of a price and we were lacklustre throughout that tie and lost to a late late goal. Best left alone on betting front.

  8. 5 years ago

My team Alloa are flying just now with 2 draws & 2 wins in their last 4 including recent back to back wins against Dundee Utd & Q.O.S. Today they’re at Dunfermline. I backed them on Thursday at 7/1 with Bet 365(now 9/2), still over priced in my opinion.

    • alva glen 5 years ago

Deaso69 yip have been watching them masell. 7/1 is a crazy price. Falkirk are massive 7/1to win at Ayr where they were 2 up at ht last time. Mon the Wasps.

    Morning lads
F.A Cup action and two games that i like the look of.
    Bristol City v Huddersfield
Bristol City to win at 5/4*****(NAP)
Huddersfield have had a tough time recently losing 8 games on the trot and the last thing they need right now is a cup game, little squad little depth so rotation isn’t really an option.Today’s hosts though come into this game in better shape unbeaten in their last 8 games, although City are in a different league these two aren’t a league apart if you look at the standings, given both teams form etc etc their is value taking the home side to win.

    Norwich v Portsmouth
Norwich city to win at 19/20****

    Outsider bet
    Chelsea v Notts Forest
    Forest to win at 13/1
    Best of luck

  10. sean567 5 years ago

    Wsw v Melbourne victory
    First card before 28:00 5/6 bet 365
These 2 love a card and an early one to boot, this market has landed in 9 of the 10 league games wsw have played ( they were responsible for 8 of the 9) and for the victory it’s landed in 8 of their 10 matches (they were responsible for 6 of the 8)
I’d say the Asian line of 5.0 at evens is worth taking on as well, but I’m leaving that and putting all my eggs in one bookings basket and just going bigger on the time

    • sean567 5 years ago

Typical, you give it the big build up then 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

    • spacelover 5 years ago

Dire game so far. Hopefully livens up 2nd half with a flux of cards…..

  11. sean567 5 years ago

    Sat goals tip
    Over 1.5 tgs
    Ayr
    Dundee Utd
    Raith
    Arbroath
All 4 sides are at home and in the hunt for promotion. I expect them all to win today and bag a few goals in the process.
As has been mentioned team news is vital for fa cup games, and I’ll be steering clear of the majority of them but 1 side I’ll be looking out for the line up is Man United. If OGS wants the job permanently come the summer then a trophy is a must, and although there will be some rotation I reckon he will still field a strong line up. Waiting for news, but with the likes of lingard, Sanchez, Lukaku and mata all probably going to be given minutes Man U to net 4+ looks like it could be worth a shout

    • sean567 5 years ago

Apologies, the Scottish goals bet is priced at 41/10 at ladbrokes

hey people , its TUFC time again!!
another home mate, four in under two weeks, including the home ‘away’ game against truro city! we remain top of the pile, we remain two points ahead of woking, they continue to have two games in hand and continue to match us win for win! its a record breaking nine wins on the trot now for us, with a huge amount of goals being scored, but slightly troublingly, not one clean cheet in the league since GJ arrived. today could be the day that this changes as we entertain slough town. they are in decent enough form, losing their first game in six at home to wealdstone on new years day.
its a game that you’d think we’d win at a canter, the bookies price us at 2/5 tho, when they made us much slimmer in our previous three games, as tight as 1/5 v truro first time around!
we’re scoring for fun, have a full strength squad to choose from, will keating play, will andrews be dropped, alllowing kalala on to his favourite side. will jamie reid break through the elusive 20 goal mark for the season today, will janneh get back into his groove??
the crowd will be smaller again, prob 2500 as the financial effects of january bite.
will we win?? we should, we probably will, but i think the bigger price reflects slough’s mean defence, hopefully we’ll get a clean sheet, i’d go for 2-0 to us today, and a win to nil wager, but btnts is my least favourite bet, seems to be the one most often ruined so early in matches,

so i’m going to plump for TUFC -1 as my nap, a decent 23/20 with betway

hopefully woking will be distracted by their big match tomorrow v watford, the money a live BT match will bring in, plus a capacity crowd will enable them to bring in more players, this title fight is going to go to the wire, we need to make sure we’re five points ahead by the final whistle this evening!

the future’s bright, the future’s yellow!!

No Mr F I’m not up for the FA cup.
Far to volatile with bigger teams rotating and the smaller clubs going for it as it’s there time in the spotlight and like there world Cup competition all rolled into one.

    WSW v Melbourne Victory

As I’ve mentioned the last couple of weeks, Melbourne Victory are a shadow of the attacking force without Honda in the team. Since he has been injured they have only managed a solitary goal in their last two outings with both matches ending a draw.

WSW have really struggled this season. They have conceded 2 or more goals in 7 out of 10 matches this season and I think today we will see that become 8 from 11.

    Melbourne Victory O1.5 TG’s 5/6

FA cup day. Can’t go wrong with the magic of cup.

I have done a £1.00 stake accua Over 2.5 goals on 15 games which involve premier League teams. I think there will goals in some most of today’s game. Premier League side wiil be fielding weaker teams which are of course stronger then most of the teams they will play. Odds were 3000-1 so went with a £1.00 stake

  21. mrosas1985 5 years ago

I expect Man Utd to field a weaker team today but will start with Sanchez and Roman L. I got a bet single bet for both of them to score anytime.

I also have accua – Roman L, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Mason Mount, R Mahraz, Samir Nasir, Laczerrte, and Clevert Lewinsky to score anytime. 354-1 with betway. £1.00 lay.

I am going to await line ups for 12.30 before I lay another bet.

The card looks all the more difficult today with the FA Cup being split into 7 12.30 kick off’s, 10 3 o’clock’s and 5 starting at 5.30 meaning the more sensible approach of waiting for team news is all the more difficult.
    Must admit I like the look of todays Skybet boost offering 5/1 on a treble of;

MR Fixit is spot on about this being possibly the trickiest card of the season, its horrible. Of the usual leagues games that are going ahead, nothing really grabs my attention, then you have a wrath of FA cup matches. 3rd round games usually produce goals and that may be the best way to go

Ayr United v Falkirk (KO 3pm)

After Ross County’s disappointing loss last night, its a terrific opportunity for 2nd place Ayr to regain top spot.

They host bottom side Falkirk wo have had a disaster of a season. The bookies have rightly made Ayr massive favourites for this game and that opens up value in backing Falkirk to score

The Bairns may be bottom of the league but they’ve been scoring plenty of goals, (their last 6 games 2/3/2/0/1/2) and whilst I don’t expect them to get anything from the game, the championship is an extremely competitive league, anyone can beat anyone. How often do we see top playing bottom and it not going to form.

Falkirk have found the net in 8 of their last 11 trips to Somerset Park and given they are scoring goals despite their lowly position its not unreasonable to think they can nick a gaol here

I’ve largely left my beloved National League North alone this season but the goals tallies are creeping back up; 7 out of 11 games saw 3 or more goals on New Year’s Day with somewhere in the region of 70-80% of games going ‘overs’ on recent match days!

Worth a little punt with a few dubloons and whilst all 11 pays 310/1, it may pay to take out the Hereford and Southport games leaving a speculative 9-fold paying 79/1

    Portimonense
    7/5
    **NAP**

    –Double–
    ACCRINGTON v Ipswich
    Maritimo v PORTIMONENSE
    11/2

ACCRINGTON already been mentioned on here recently, in decent form against a poor Ipswich who are unlikely to field a full strength squad. Think the home side will nick the win.
In Portugal, 16th place Maritimo have lost their last 4 games in a row, facing an in-form PORTIMONENSE who have won their last 3 in a row, including the large scalp of Benfica last week.

If you like the look of the double but would like a bit more insurance, you could take both teams draw no bet at 23/10 = good value in my opinion.

Brilliant game on Thursday! Lots of pressure & City who handled it well. The title race is gonna be a cracker! 2 excellent teams but history shows Liverpool would have to bottle it if they don’t end up winning. Credit to them for keeping the unbeaten steak going so long. Not close to the mighty Invincibles (we’ll never see the like again) but they gave it a decent crack. Said the same thing when City kept the streak going for so long last season as going 20+ is quite the achievement.

    Weekend picks:
Over 2.5 goal double: Palace & Gunners games (Evens). Over 2.5 goals in the Sunderland game (evens). Sunderland over 5.5 corners (evens)
    NFL treble: Colts +10.5/Chargers +10.5/Bears +2.5 (1.87)
Darts: BDO Outright winner: Durrant (2.10). Enjoy

You are welcome Phil. Happy to see the score at 0-3 and then 3-1 but I had to take them at that price. I enjoy research personally and learnt a lot from likes of Leroy in here and others. I’m happy with a single winner any day and a 9/5 winner is better than a 3/1 loser as my dad taught me.

Just pleased to see it pay off

Ended up a roller coaster game and 3-2 83rd minute then 95th minute 3-3 then 99th minute ebbsfleet miss a penalty.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

You can’t blame Raffa Sean, infact i am surprised he has stayed as manager.Absolutely no ambition from the owner whatsoever,Raffa won’t be there next season that is certain,i mean how can he take the club forward when they are not making any signings. The owner must be raking it in i mean what about all the money they got from being promoted.A multi millionaire who is basically treating the club as a toy and not a business.Rafa might just keep them up then it will be the next sucker to come in unless of course he sells the club of course.

    • sean567 5 years ago

Don’t blame Rafa at all, staying in the prem league far more important than a cup there’s pretty much next to no chance of winning anyway given our squad. Just pointing out much like Ipswich today, that our cup record is shocking and there’s the potential of value to be had. I agree with you, if Ashley’s still the owner come the end of the season Rafa won’t be there

    • HullShaker 5 years ago

It will be a great day for football when Mike Ashley walks away from Newcastle – the fans and team deserve much better.

    • sean567 5 years ago

He runs the club the way all clubs should be run- don’t spend more than you earn. The problem with him tho is he doesn’t spend what we earn. Some goes to the team and some goes in his bank

    SINOP U20 VS. CORINTHIANS U20 (2330 KO):

Sinop lost their opening tournament game 2-0 to Itauno and will be up against it tonight as the mighty Corinthians bring forth a side that have been part of one of South America’s most established youth set-ups.

Corinthians will certainly be in the mix come the knockout stages and managed to hit 3 in their own opener but they did concede twice as Ricanto pegged them back against the play so it goes to show that goals can and will come from both sides in this competition.

Anyone fancying a Ricanto goal could do worse than back Btts snd Corinthians win at 13/10 but I’ll stick to the (usually) less complicated outright goals markets:

Well done all winners today. Loads of nice priced ones. Certainly not a day for TEAM TO WIN ACCA and many sides beat and many short prices lost.

Nice work from crane, John boy, warktheline, Greg and other usual suspects 💪💪💪

Enjoy your weekend folks. Quite one from me and just look through some stats tonight and post a nap tomorrow if I find anything of value 👍.

    Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory

Considering the form of the two teams and the odds for Perth it seems to me a no brainer for a Perth straight win.

    Perth Glory to win 5/4

GL all and well done on any winners today

Shame no 6th goal for the 3/1 but I’ll take that – 13/10 would’ve come good if anyone took that on as well 😀

    OVER 4.5 MGS…5/4
