Monday’s Football Tips: Newcastle should pile more pressure on Lopetegui

West Ham United boss Julen Lopetegui already has the air of a dead man walking and it's hard to see a revival starting tonight when he takes his side to Newcastle.

The talk earlier this week was that the Hammers were already sounding out a successor, with former Dortmund boss Edin Terzic the name in the frame.

The Hammers have lost by a three-goal margin on their last two Premier League away days and this one could get ugly too if the Magpies hit top form.

Eddie Howe's side have won their last three, beating high flying Chelsea, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, so they should have too much quality for this struggling West Ham outfit.

Newcastle United vs West Ham United top betting tips

The bookies reckon this is a home run for the Magpies as Betano's side make Newcastle their 9/20 hot favourites, with West Ham as big as 5/1.

That makes it tricky to find some value but combining the home win with a goal for in-form striker Alexander Isak boosts the odds to 11/8 at Bet365.

Discipline has been a big problem for Lopetegui this season, with his side picking up three reds and 27 yellows so far this season.

That could make the card markets a decent option tonight but you have to go to over 52.5 booking points to get to 13/8 at Betfred. The odds are better on certain players going in the book and Hammers left-back Emerson Palmieri is 13/5 at Unibet for his fourth card this term.

Port Vale vs Crewe Alexandra top betting tips

Port Vale have the chance to go six points clear again in League Two tonight but it won't be easy when fifth-placed Crewe Alexandra come calling.

Walsall cut the gap at the top to just three points with a win on Saturday so there's a bit of pressure on the leaders to respond.

After a poor run that saw them go three games without a win in all competitions, Port Vale returned to winning ways by grinding out a 1-0 win at strugglers Morecambe.

Crewe ended their own two-game run without a victory by beating Notts County 2-0 last time out so it's a tricky one to call. With neither side at their best in recent weeks, the half-time draw looks good at 20/21 with Betano.

Only four goals have been scored in the last five meetings so combining under 2.5 strikes with BTTS no could also pay off at 39/40 in a Betano bet builder.

Venezia vs Lecce top betting tips

There's a couple of games in Serie A tonight and I'm going to focus on the relegation six-pointer between Venezia and Lecce.

Venezia prop up the pile but they're only one point behind Leece so the stakes are high and it promises to be a tense 90 minutes.

Lecce's form is slightly worse than their hosts', with just one victory in their last 10 games. With Venezia having home advantage, that might make them worth a punt at 5/4 with Betano.

Backing a busy night for the ref is probably the best option, though, with so much at stake. Over 52.5 booking points looks good at 13/8 with Betfred while Lecce's Patrick Dorgu is 5/2 for a card after collecting a red and a yellow already this season.
