Liverpool odds to win the Champions League

Liverpool’s odds to win the Champions League have steadily shifted, starting at 12/1 pre-tournament and now at 8/1.

In turn, their performances under new manager Arne Slot are generating a buzz, but is this the right time to back the Reds, or should we wait?

Why Liverpool odds to win the Champions League are worth following

Momentum under Slot is peaking

Arne Slot's start at Liverpool has brought control and precision. The Reds now play a high-pressure, possession-focused style. It has stabilised their play and sharpened their attack. With 10 goals scored and just one conceded in their four Champions League games, Slot has given the team a solid foundation in Europe.

While Slot's Champions League experience remains somewhat limited, with six wins in 10 outings overall, he is rapidly adapting to life as manager of Liverpool.

In any case, anything Slot may currently lack in Champions League pedigree – compared to the likes of Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti – is more than compensated for by veterans like Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, both of whom are UCL winners and three-time finalists with the Merseyside club.

Results reflect growing belief

As developed by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s ever-present pressing tactics are still yielding results. Furthermore, their finishing power has significantly improved, and not at the cost of defending effectively. The team has a strong, consistent midfield and a depth of attacking options that align well with Slot’s tactics.

With betting favourites Manchester City and Real Madrid both suffering recent back-to-back competitive defeats and being pummeled in their respective matchday four fixtures, Liverpool’s consistency could make them a value pick. City's struggles without Rodri and De Bruyne raise doubts about their resilience. Real Madrid's adaptation with Mbappé in attack and without Kroos in midfield suggests they are still finding a rhythm and structure.

…But is it Too Soon to Bet?

While Liverpool’s odds are shortening, 8/1 still reflects the competition they face in Europe. Real Madrid and Manchester City remain favourites despite their recent form dips. We also saw Liverpool’s potential to struggle in their fight on multiple fronts towards the back end of 2023/24, with dismal results such as a 3-0 home loss to Atalanta illustrating just how quickly it can unravel.

On balance though, those who are confident in Liverpool’s consistency and looking for value beyond the frontrunners should see now as the time to back Slot’s men.
