Leicester City v Watford
Premier League. Kick-off: 3.00pm, Saturday December 1st.
NINTH and tenth in the table meet at the King Power Stadium on Saturday and despite recent trends it could be worth backing goals.
Leicester City fans have been a bit short-changed in recent matches, seeing their team score just three goals in the last five and five in total. But the good news is that Jamie Vardy looks set to lead the line after coming off the bench last weekend and scoring against Brighton.
The England marskman hasn't been firing on all cylinders yet this season but is always good for a goal against any opposition and he scored against the Hornets in this fixture last season.
Watford have stumbled a little in the last few weeks, picking up just one point from a possible nine. They've picked up eight points from 18 on the road this season, which isn't a bad return but five of those have been against teams currently in the bottom four.
The Foxes have, of course, gone through very difficult times recently and will be looking to get back to some sense of normality, at least on the pitch – no easy task. 888Sport have them at 6/5 to win and if pushed I'd be siding with them over the visitors. Leicester have won all of the last three meetings between the two sides at the King Power. In fact their overall record in the last 10 clashes reads W6 D1 L3.
In seven of those Over 2.5 Goals have been scored and both teams have scored in half.
It's a contrary view to back goals here. As well as the aforementioned paucity in front of goals by Leicester overall, Jamie Vardy has failed to score in his last three home league games and has netted only once at home this season – his worst run in two years. No better time to back him to score then?
Vardy is 7/2 to score first or 5/4 to net anytime.
Another stat I like is;
Leicester have conceded a league-high share 65% of their Premier League goals in the first half of games this season (11/17), with five of those coming in the opening 15 minutes.
A first half goal is just 4/11 but one before 29:59 makes more appeal at 4/5 if that's your kind of thing.
