Last Player Standing is a betting competition where a group of people each put in a stake and predict one team to win in a competition each week.
If that team wins, they progress into the next round, if they draw or lose, they are eliminated.
Each team can only be picked once throughout the game; e.g., if you pick Liverpool to win in week one, you cannot pick them again during that edition of Last Player Standing.
The goal is to be the final player left at the end of it all. The winner takes the full pot.
This weekend, Arsenal will look to regain top spot from Manchester City as they host out-of-form Newcastle United, whilst the battle for survival heats up as West Ham entertain away-day specialists Everton and Spurs travel to rock-bottom Wolves.
This week’s best Last Player Standing tip: Arsenal
Arsenal will look to move back to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday afternoon as they welcome struggling Newcastle United to the Emirates.
Arsenal’s title hopes have taken a real hit over the past couple of weeks, as a surprise home defeat to Bournemouth was followed by a loss at the Etihad to title rivals Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta’s men are now in second position behind the Cityzens, but know a win over their out-of-form visitors will see them go back to the top of the Premier League table, with Manchester City in FA Cup action this weekend.
Newcastle are in even worse form than their North London counterparts, with Eddie Howe’s men winning just three of their previous 12 Premier League outings (W3-D1-L8), losing each of their last three and eight of their past 11.
MFT’s top Last Player Standing pick: Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs will look to give their survival hopes a real boost on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Molineux to take on rock-bottom Wolves.
Roberto De Zerbi was denied his first win as Spurs boss last weekend as his new side conceded deep into stoppage time to draw 2-2 at home to the Italian’s former side, Brighton & Hove Albion.
Tottenham are still yet to win in the Premier League this calendar year, and remain two points from safety, but they will view this clash as a must-win against their already-relegated hosts.
Rob Edwards’s men have taken seven points from their last three matches at home (W2-D1-L0), but they come into this clash off the back of consecutive defeats away at West Ham United and Leeds United, shipping seven goals and failing to score.
