JURGEN KLOPP brought the curtain down on his nine-year trophy-laden tenure at Liverpool at the end of the season and he won’t be short of offers now that he is up for grabs.
However, it has been widely reported that the German plans to take a sabbatical over the next 12 months before considering any job proposals.
The 57-year-old will certainly be a man in demand when he does decide to get back into the dugout
Let’s examine where Klopp and his ‘heavy metal football’ could rock up next.
Germany National Team
The bookmakers’ odds suggest Klopp will make a foray into international football when he makes his return to management. The German national team are the overwhelming 2/9 favourites to win the race for Klopp’s signature. Klopp would be the universal selection among the German support to lead the country but whether or not the position needs filled is another matter.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side will consider themselves unlucky not to have reached the semi-final stages of Euro 2024. What's more, Nagelsmann recently penned a new deal that will see him remain in charge through to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While Klopp seems destined to manage Die Mannschaft at some stage in his career, the current lay of the land would suggest that marriage could be further down the road than anticipated.
Barcelona
Barcelona are deemed the most likely next club destination for Klopp at a general 5/1 with the bookies.
Having already conquered both the Bundesliga and the Premier League, Klopp would surely relish the opportunity to reign supreme in Spain. The charismatic Germany's ability to blend a winning culture along with high-intensity and attacking football would surely be lapped up by the Barcelona faithful.
With Xavi set to stay at the helm in Catalonia until next summer, a potential pathway to the Camp Nou for Klopp is very plausible.
Bayern Munich
Consistency in the dugout is something that has been painfully missing at Bayern Munich in recent years but an era of dominance would surely lie in wait if the 13/2 German giants could lure Jurgen Klopp to Bavaria.
The former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund manager has previously been linked with a move to the Allianz Arena and those rumours would almost certainly intensify if latest Bayern boss Vincent Kompany fails to hit the ground running. Kompany’s arrival in Munich raised quite a few eyebrows and Klopp would represent a serious upgrade on the Belgian.
Borussia Dortmund
Klopp is 10/1 to make a romantic return to Borussia Dortmund. Klopp etched his name into Dortmund folklore by guiding the club to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, as well as reaching the 2013 Champions League final.
Nuri Sahin received a heartfelt message on Instagram from Klopp after being named BVB’s new boss last month, but if the 35-year-old rookie flops then there would be considerable clamour from Dortmund fans for Klopp to make an emotional return to the Westfalenstadion.
