Friday, 7.45pm, live on Sky Sports 1

AFTER Hearts v Hibs bored us tears for 80 minutes or so how will we cope with tonight's live TV offering from the Midlands.

The Edinburgh derby never lived up to its billing but at least the final 10 minutes was more interesting with both sides coming close to scoring.

This may be a League One encounter but this game will have to be a shocker to be any worse than the SPL fare we were given last night.

At first glance Walsall look a decent shout against a side without a win in 12 outings but in reality both are struggling sides.

Portsmouth only had 15 players available for the midweek trip to Swindon and it was no surprise when they crashed 5-0 but Guy Whittingham's men held out for an hour before conceding.

On-loan striker Paul Benson returns after being unavailable to face his parent club while midfielder Brian Howard and defenders Ricardo Rocha and Gabor Gyepes are fighting to be fit.

Experienced new signing David Connolly could make his full debut in attack and it's possible he could make a difference.

Walsall have moved away fron he drop zone with three wins in four so if they can continue in that vein they should edge this ine although 10-11 (various) is shorter than I'd like.

Skint Pompey are 10-3 at BetVictor and bet365 while the draw pays 11-4 with BetVictor.

If Pompey show the same resistance they did at the County Ground it could be worth looking at draw HT/Walsall FT at 4-1 with the likes of William Hill and Paddy Power.

Both teams have scored in the past four meetings and a repeat pays 8-11 at Coral.

Four of Walsall's last six and four of Pompey's last five have gone over 2.5 goals so that's worth a look at 4-5 with Ladbrokes even though last night's match puts me off slightly from backing the overs.

Recommendations

HT draw/FT Walsall
(4-1, various)

Over 2.5 goals
(4-5, Ladbrokes)

Cheers Danny. I’ve done a wee bit of research on it (Studied Soccerway for about 30m), but I’m not great at this betting lark!, so caution is advised! :)

Thinking of going for over 1.5 again to recover a bit after yesterday. Would u recommend that or would u leave it? Cheers mate

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Robbie, over 1.5 should come in but if you’re chasing wait until tomorrow when there is loads of choice.

@Don the Vitesse/Helmond game is not going ahead today as far as I’m aware, otherwise I’d be bang on that over 2.5 as a big single. Those Dutch teams do love scoring.

  11. Don 12 years ago

Was just about to post that. Just seen it myself.

That’s 1 out of four ‘in’ then! :D

Just a heads up guys, Boylesports are offering a good money back special for selected FA Cup games. Refund on losing first goalscorers if your player scores second. Top of my list would be Suarez @ 5/2. Next on my list would be RVP @ 3/1.

£100 on each player for me.

    Buggerations…..

Away side equalized with about 5 min to go and then conceded again about a minute later….

    Just my luck… :)

    £100 on under 2.5 Goals @ 11/10 Various

    Hope I get something here!!

    Good luck everyone.

what do you think about the zaragoaza betis game fixit?

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Will, didn’t have time to look at it properly and kinda decided to leave it alone anyway. Never sure who is going to start better after a break. I’m quite happy to do my betting at the weekend.

any one think there will be lots of goals in the Newport v Wrexham game thinking 3.3

    • Mr Fixit 12 years ago

Paul, you’d think there would be goals but last three meetings have produced a total of just five. However, both have been scoring and conceding in recent games.

    2 x HT/FT Lucky 15s for me

Walsall or Pompey HT Draw FT
Zaragoza or Betis HT Draw FT
Newport or Wrexham HT Draw FT
Newcastle Jets or Adelaide HT Draw FT

on average each pays 14/1 so a potentially profitable punt with small stakes.

  31. Craig alves 12 years ago

Stuck a fiver at 5/6 celta clean sheet so a bit gutted but better btts than clean sheet, super single up too on tge overs. Waiting on Lazio Man utd Chelsea Cardiff for £111 fi a fiver
