KILMARNOCK and St Mirren slipped up against First Division opposition in the Scottish Cup and hope to get it right at the second attempt.
The Rugby Park men were a penalty kick away from exiting at Dundee while Saints failed to break down a stubborn Hamilton defence at home.
Killie have home advantage as they try to book a last-16 slot while the Buddies can use the fact they're away from home to see off Accies.
Saints have netted just one goal fewer on the road than at St Mirren Park but should profit from the fact the First Division will have to push men forward in front of their own fans.
Danny Lennon's side were walloped 5-2 by 10-man Hearts at the weekend and Accies boss Billy Reid says the manner of that defeat gives his men hope.
However, there is no doubt Saints possess a greater goal threat and if they can keep it tight at the back should progress.
Lennon good prospects such as Paul McGowan, Graham Carey and Kenny McLean. I'd look at McLean to score at 15-8 with McBookie.com and veteran Steven Thompson, who netted a brilliant header at Hearts, at 5-1 with McBookie.com to break the deadlock.
The Paisley men are 5-4 with tournament sponsors William Hill and Ladbrokes to win in 90 minutes with Accies 23-10 at BetVictor. To qualify Hills go 4-6 Buddies, 11-10 Accies.
I'm more confident about Saints than Killie who face a decent Dundee outfit.
Killie have injury doubts about eight players and will be without their two new signings.
The Rugby Park men are 1-3 favourites with Hills to qualify and I prefer Dundee at 9-4.
You can have 4-1 with William Hill and Ladbrokes on a Dundee win in 90 minutes while they are 8-7 with Ladbrokes on the double chance (not to lose).
I can see this going to extra time and Dundee to qualify at 12-5 with bet365 could be the bet.
Killie are a biggest 3-4 with BetVictor over 90 minutes.
Recommendations
St Mirren
(5-4, William Hill, Ladbrokes)
McLean to score
(15-8, McBookie.com)
Dundee to qualify
(12-5, bet365)
hey Paul why is both games cancelled tonight
Stephen, they’re not cancelled, think someone made a mistake.
Plenty folk must be chucking money at Dundee tonight. They were 12/5 to qualify now 11/8…
Guy, think the team news has done it. Killie without up to eight regulars plus two new boys are ineligible. I’ve tipped Dundee to go through but never write off the big boys.
2-0 Killie HT.
in William hill they had both games as postponed no idea why so couldn’t get a bet on it
Stephen, seems BBC website had both games up as postponed but also listed as on. Looks there has been a bit of confusion and I know Hills took the games down for a bit as they were led to believe they had been postponed then put them back up again.
