THERE are some gargantuan matches tonight, Barcelona vs Liverpool, Altrincham vs Blyth Spartans and Clydebank vs Kirkintilloch Rob Roy to name a few but it's Italy I'm headed to as we have a full card of matches from Serie B.
There are 7 matches kicking off at 2pm and it's always baffled why they have matches kicking off at this time on a Wednesday. Does everyone in Italy finish work at 3pm? Seems bizarre at such a crucial part of the season, surely attendances must be impacted which in turn impact atmosphere and most importantly revenue?
I'm not complaining though as it gives us a chance to swell the coffers before the evening matches and having looked through the table there's not a single club with nothing to play for which is incredible given their are just three matches left. Sky Bet have finally returned the total goals market for these games and I'm not missing out.
Italian Serie B – 7 matches (KO 2pm)
Automatic promotion, promotion play-offs, relegation play-offs and automatic relegation are still far from settled in Serie B and it goes to show how competitive this league is given all 19 clubs having something at stake.
I don't know what the stats say but based on previous seasons, it certainly feels like you see a lot more open games and a lot more goals towards the end of the season. There are only two rounds of fixtures to go after this and with plenty at stake we should expect games to yield more goals than we normally would.
With the exception of Brescia, all of the teams who see the highest percentage of goals in there matches are in action. Joint Top Lecce are away to basement side Padova knowing victory would see them go top at least for a few hours.
With 7 games being played there's always a good chance at least 1 or 2 of them will see at least 3 or 4 goals and this should aid the total goals count.
Sky Bet haven't offered total matches goals since we stung them in Holland three weeks ago but they have it available today and I'm happy to take 18+ goals at 4-5 (20+ is 13-8).
Plenty at stake today with games being more open with the need for points increasing.
