Rizzel will be disappointed in how his sole selection ran on Monday. Harjo was eventually pulled up after a round of poor jumping and was a shadow of the horse we saw on his previous outing, which saw him win in determined fashion at Doncaster.
We have one jumps meeting at Market Rasen on Thursday and two AW meetings at Newcastle and Southwell. Not much caught my eye at Market Rasen, so I've opted to chance my arm at Newcastle, as there is a decent little Class 3 contest on offer.
Cairnzy's Tips
Brewing 2/1 – Newcastle 3.22
This isn't the worst Class 3 contest I've seen in terms of quality, but there's question marks on a few of their heads towards top end of the market, and due to that, I feel Brewing is a worthy favourite on paper to get the job done for us on Tuesday.
To touch on a few first, William Dewhurst is the form pick, having won four of his last five races, but that one has a 5lb penalty to shoulder in a tougher race.
Furthermore, the winning margins on those victories have been relatively short, suggesting he's maybe in the hands of the handicapper now, but only time will tell.
Nikovo is interesting, with young Billy Loughnane booked for the ride. All of Nikovo's wins have come over slightly further, and this contest represents a first go over 7f. Nikovo remains 3lb higher than when winning here last year, but if the drop back in trip suits him, then he could be a danger, with stamina being no issue.
Andrew Balding's Lady Flora made an encouraging return to action last time out in a Class 4, but again, this looks tougher, and she's making her tapeta debut over a shorter trip.
That ultimately left me with the William Haggas trained Brewing, who looks the safest option on paper. My selection has only been raised 2lb on the back of a comfortable victory at this track in late January.
He saw the challenge from Empirestateofmind to win by three-quarters of a length, but the short winning margin doesn't tell the whole story as he looks to have plenty to spare when hitting the line. B
Brewing tends to do well when running at this track, which is proven on his CV, having won here four times already throughout his career. Jockey Harry Burns rides for connections, and he has a decent record when doing so, winning seven times from 15 rides.
11:23 compiegne – Maguelon 2/1

45s ew extra top 4
200s top 3 for the optimistic

A bit of pocket talk here but the 11/2 in the without Willie market for Gavin Cromwell to be 2nd top trainer is a great bet.
He’s bringing over his strongest team ever
