There are only two meetings on in the UK on Sunday, both of which are jump meetings. Rizz and I have selected two horses each for Sunday's Lucky 15 tips.

Cairnzy's Tips

R S Ambush 13/8 – Stratford 3.30

If R S Ambush can build on last months half-length defeat at Hexham, then he is surely the one to beat in this contest. This looks like an ideal opportunity to get off the mark as the field doesn't look particularly strong. The dropback from 2m4 to 2m looks like a good move by connections and I'll be surprised if he isn't bang there at the finish. Don Rafael looks the potential danger on the back of his runner-up effort at Uttoxeter last time out.

Cap Du Nord 11/2 – Perth 3.45

I mentioned on the main thread that Christain Williams tends to have a good knack for pitching his horses into races and I think Cap Du Nord comes here with a huge chance at decent odds.

Cap Du Nord is very much in the veteran stage of his career but he was once rated in the low 140s in his peak. Now down to a mark of 122, Cap Du Nord comes here as a well handicapped horse. My selection has shown glimpses of his old self in his previous two runs, winning at Plumpton in March and placing third at this same track last month.

Rizzel's Tips

Doctor Parnassus – Stratford 4.00

It's eye-catching that Doctor Parnassus is back with Dan Skelton after leaving the yard for Richard John O'Brien back in 2023. This horse used to be a decent juvenile hurdler for Dan Skelton back in 2022 when he managed to win on his first two starts and then finished middle of the pack of the Triumph Hurdle in the year that Vauban was the winner. Like all juveniles find out when they get their handicap mark, it is often inflated and they tend to struggle against the older horses, which is what happened with Doctor Parnassus, but his mark has dropped from a career-high of 136 to 112. It's interesting that the owners have brought him back to Dan's yard, and given how well Dan does with types like this when obtaining horses with low marks, he is worth a shot off a low mark.

Step Out SP – Perth 2.15

Novice races can be tricky races to bet in as normally there are horses making their hurdling debuts with decent bumper form, and you often get a surprise at bigger odds when showing very little form previously. For this race, I can't see how Step Out loses this race. I expect him to be a fairly short price, but based on the form he has shown, he is head and shoulders clear of this very weak field.

Stuart Crawford's five-year-old son of Walk In The Park is yet to win a race from his seven racecourse starts (one from a PTP), but he has shown enough ability to land a weak novice race like today's. He wasn't a great bumper horse, but since going hurdling he has hit the crossbar twice, and the form of those races read very well in comparison to what the others in this race have achieved. On hurdles debut, he finished 0.5L behind a Gordon Elliott horse, who has since recorded an RPR of 125 on his next start (finished second), and the third-placed horse who was 10L behind Step Out has since won a handicap off a mark of 107.

I think he will drift before the time of the race as punters will want to try and get him beat, and I think he will drift to close to EVS.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
