Like most of the weekend Lucky 15s, one of the runners was a non-runner, making it into a Patent bet.

Kijiko was the only winner on the day, and drifted out to a very good price of 11/2.

The other two weren't great, but I expected a lot better from Ruby Island. My righthandman ran decent enough on his hurdling debut, and will definitely win races throughout his career.

Soldier Reeves 9/1 – Cheltenham 1.15

From the entire Cheltenham card, the one horse that tempted me to put in the main thread was Soldier Reeves.

The only reason why I didn't tip him up on the main page was because he is running in a big field maiden hurdle that we don't know a lot about. However, his run on bumper debut looked like a run for fitness, and was given a typical Harry Skelton ride from the rear.

Harry gave his horse far too much to do, but that has been a regular occurrence this season with their inexperienced horses. After their first runs, they have come out and run well or won on their next start, so hopefully, this is another.

Jordans Cross 9/4 – Cheltenham 1.45

I think that the Anthony Honeyball yard has always liked Jordans Cross. The way he has been backed in every race in his short career gives that impression.

On his chasing debut at Aintree a couple of weeks ago, he was strong in the market and ran very well to win in good style.

This race is another step up from last time out, but there's not much to be against Jordans Cross. He handles the ground, and the step up in trip should suit, given he won a three-mile PTP race.

Glengouly 4/1 – Cheltenham 2.20

Glengouly was very nearly a selection last time out, but I managed to talk myself out of backing him. Thankfully, he didn't win, but he went mightily close at odds of 28/1.

It might have been a bit of a fluke that he got that close to the winner, as since moving to Faye Bramley, his form has stunk the place out.

However, he is a nine-year-old, so he's not too old to roll back the clock. His handicap mark has taken a tumble after lacklustre races during the summer, but his run last time out suggested he was returning to form.

I rate the form of the Aintree third. I tipped up the second, who I believe is ahead of the handicapper, and the winner was well-backed and is totally unexposed.

Mirabad 6/1 – Cheltenham 3.30

Dan Skelton is taking his title charge very serious this season, as we saw on Saturday when he landed the big handicap with Panic Attack. There was no secret that it was a long-term plan for that horse, and it's a great way to get money on the board in the title race.

The big handicap on Sunday is the Greatwood hurdle, and seeing Harry on Mirabad on his stable debut for the Skeltons was interesting.

This horse was decent when trained by Richard Newland & Jamie Insole, but there could be more to come for Dan Skelton, who is a fantastic target trainer with hurdlers.
