Kijiko 10/3 – Cheltenham 2.55
Running from the bottom of the weights, along with four other horses, is Kijiko. With the weather likely to turn the ground at Cheltenham into a slog, running off a low weight is going to be a huge advantage.
Kijiko stood out the most in this race from those running off low weights, and I think we will see a real progressive horse this year from Hobbs & White's horse.
He returned to action at Aintree a couple of weeks ago in a conditional jockey's handicap, which was a decent race. He didn't disgrace himself and that was a lovely start to the new season.
With the recent run under his belt and some good runs last year, I think he has a superb chance at Cheltenham on Saturday. He looks like a real stayer, and should be fine on the ground.
C'Est Different 11/1 – Cheltenham 3.30
It's not a surprise that another Sam Thomas trained horse makes an appearance on a RizzelTips thread. I was debating sticking this on the main thread, as I think he could be ridiculously well-handicapped, but having three horses from the same owner and trainer tipped up on the main page seemed a little silly.
This horse is a general Sam Thomas horse who comes in at the bottom of the weights and is in tremendous form from last season.
He won on his last two starts, both being handicaps, making him 2/2 in handicaps. His wins have been at a much lower level, but Sam Thomas knows what he is doing, and he wouldn't be chucking him in this race if he didn't think he could win it.
Ruby Island 4/1 – Wetherby 2.00
Given this is away from Cheltenham, it's a really good Class 3 handicap chase.
Apart from Starcrossed Lover, who could still put in a good performance, the rest look closely matched. Ruby Island was the one who caught my attention on the back of her impressive run last time out.
Nicky Richards is in fantastic form at present, and whenever Nicky's yard is firing like they are currently, they tend to continue to ride the wave and get plenty more winners.
She will be fine on the ground and is a course winner, so she ticks a lot of boxes.
Myrighthandman 14/1 – Wetherby 3.10
It will take a fairly useful debutante to beat Fresh Perspective on the back of his debut run over hurdles 43 days ago, but Tom Lacey has been operating at a 30% SR with his hurdlers this year.
For that reason, and others like the fact that he can ready one first time out and Stan Sheppard goes to Wetherby for one ride, Myrighthandman was my play.
This horse is 1/1 in his career from PTP races, and he has a good pedigree for national hunt racing, being related to some good handicappers. Against the favourite, he looked like a worthy go.
