daily racing tips 5

We've had some terrible luck at the start of the races over the last couple of days.

East End Girl was withdrawn at the start on Thursday, and Toss Of A Coin unseated Jay Tidball when the race started.

Boyles Hill lined up towards the front, but jumped like a first-time fencer. Considering he was a PTP winner and a runner-up on his other start in that sphere, I expected much better.

I don't think the jockey covered himself in glory, but that's what the yard is all about. He wasn't strong in the market, so I didn't expect much when going off at 40/1. He could've easily finished closer than what he did, but they didn't look too bothered after bridging the gap on the flat.

Mr Vango 4/1 (1pt) – Warwick 2.55

I've finally learnt my lesson of going against Mr Vango. That sounds crazy, as I tipped him up before we knew he was a marathon-contending horse. He romped home at Exeter over 3m 6f a couple of years ago, and since then, he has done nothing but progress.

He tends to carry big weights in these marathon races, and that is what puts me off, but he is such a genuine horse. He is a ten-year-old, but a very lightly raced one, and he continues to get better.

He won the Midlands National last year and went close in the Becher Chase in December off top weight. He was staying on at the end and finished in second, ahead of Val Dancer.

Running over a longer trip is going to suit, and with no stamina doubts, I thought he was a fairly safe option.

Myretown was the one I thought could be ahead of the handicapper. However, he won the Ultima last year, and given her record in the race with Corach Rambler, that surely is the goal for the season. Corach ran in this race before winning his first Ultima, and he finished third.

Came From Nowhere 11/1 (1pt EW, 5pl) – Kempton 3.17

Backing the Skeltons in the big pot handicaps like the Lanzarote is always a good shout, and I was tempted to go for A Pai De Nom. I wanted to give a chance to Came From Nowhere, as Jeremy Scott is a severely underrated trainer, and Lorcan Williams is riding off a very low weight.

Lorcan Williams' lowest riding weight in the last 12 months has been 10st 8lbs.

The Last time he rode today's weight of 10st 6lbs was in 2023, and that was the only time for Jeremy Scott, resulting in the horse being placed at 20/1.

He is 6ft tall, and considering he has only ridden 10st 8lb once in 2025-2026, this is a proper weight cut, suggesting the effort and pain needed to make the weight will be worth it.

Also, the horse has been progressing. He has finished third, second and first in his last three starts, and looked like the longer trip at Kempton would be even better for him.
